Why do you like Lindsay and wht will you miss when she retires

I am new to this board and was wordering why people on this board like Lindsay and even I hate to think about what will you miss about her when she retires I will start.

I have been a Lindsay fan since I first saw her play in 1994 in a tourment in Australlia that no longer exists. I first liked her big game and go for broke style and thought this could be a player to watch for the next fews years and see where she goes. This was at time when all most players did was moon ball the whole time and I found this very boring to watch but Lindsay was a breath of freash air. I then started to get to know the person behind the player and more I found out the more I liked her. I had a ten day ticket to the Australian Open as I lived an hour away at the time and saw her live and she was better than what I saw I tv. She made the 1/4 finals and played Steffi Graf on centre court and got done pretty easily but its not the way she played that impressed me but the way she handle her self in defeat she gave Steffi full credit and made no excuses and I have never heard her do that since.

That is what I will miss the most when Lindsay does retire. She is as a writer put during Winbledon a star with sparkle but if that boring well I think boring rocks and give boring over hype anyday.

I will miss seeing her name in at least the semi final of every tournament she's entered. Tuning into watch the live coverage of the latter stages of tournaments and not seeing her play.

The way she conducts herself in interviews and defeat.

The noise her racquet makes when she hits the ball and just her overall style of play.

Women's tennis sucks.

Go Rafa.

i love Lindsay!

same here!!!im new too...

anyway, I've been a fan of Lindsay just a couple of months ago...(Australian Open 2005)...funny huh! Since then, i started to research and I did a lot of browsing on the net about her...She's just amazing...I always liked tennis and kn0wing Lindsay gave me more interest in tennis but I must admit, I suck at it..

The thing I like the most about her is her smile evrytime she serves, it seems like she's smiling and she looks cute ;D I just love her game!!!! I really dont want her to retire cuz i just started to like her...oh well, whatever happens, she will be my all time favourite tennis player!!!

I miss you Lindsay.
I miss hitting some balls too! LOL.
I miss tennis.

I love her because shes so kind, friendly, caring off court, doesnt think she's 'it' and on court she is amazing!!!

Her backhand is incredible and I love it when she smiles as shes serving!

After seeing her lose to Venus in 2000 at Wimbledon I was drawn to her immediatley!

I dont know what i'l do when she finishes...theres gonna be a big empty space in my life for a while anyway! Like Tim says its gonna be weird not seeing her name anywhere in the draw, not seeing her anymore live and on tv...that will be devastating. Also not knowing whats happening in her life because there will be hardly any media reports on her after she retires i think

Dont go Lindsay

oh god whats not to miss?!

The sound of the ball hitting her racket is like none other i have seen before

The smile when she serves and the pounding hard, but she makes htem look easy shots on court

How she is so normal and down to earth, not rude or arrogant or above anyone else (apart from in height ha)

Her interviews are so complex and interesting

The matches against the Williams sisters

the continual 'fuck' on court and swearing antics!

the list goes on....

Say what you like about Davenport, but shes achieved what most others could only dream of!

Jelena Jankovic
Mary Pierce MARTINA HINGIS! Kim Clijsters Ana Ivanovic

I play tennis because its my favourite sport, but Lindsay made watching tennis just as much fun.

I'll miss her WHOLE game, the style she plays, when she's on the move, the way she hits that little yellow ball, her presence on the tennis court...there are so many things I admire about Lindsay. One more thing I'll mention is her personality, she's fascinating, lovable, nice, unique, tough yet gentle.
She's Lindsay Davenport.

Her ball striking is the best in the game i have ever seen especially since the late 1980's and onwards!

the way she hits the ball with what looks like little effort amazes me.....she playes effortless tennis......just looks so easy!

The way she ties her shoe laces at every change of end/break...thats sweet!

The way she holds herself in interviews, her kindness to other players and her modesty!

She's great.....and im so glad i have had the privilidge to watch her for the last 10 years! Its been a great road of tennis.....lets hope she plays a little longer...well 2006 anyway!

Go Linds!
