my Lindsay/Maria/Nike flagship store experience...
Well I went into the nike flagship shop in oxford street (London) on Monday…omg the layout is amazing in there! Nehoo we went in search of the tennis section but cudnt find it. All of a sudden my mate said to me, “look theres ur fave tennis player!!!” I turned round quickly thinking for a sec that Lindsay was there, but she was actually being sarcastic and pointing to a big maria sharapova poster that was on the wall. I was like ‘oh dammit!’. I then read what it said on it ‘Maria Sharapova – Wimbledon and YEC champion 2004’. I then proceeded to say that rather loudly (and not intentially when there were loadsa peeps about, and followed by) ‘who got double bagelled by Lindsay Davenport the world no1 last week. Yeah great!!!’
I thought it was funny, but that’s just me!!!! Lol I eventually found the mens tennis section in the end, but the womens was being refurbed : (
Say what you like about Davenport, but shes achieved what most others could only dream of!
Jelena Jankovic Mary Pierce MARTINA HINGIS! Kim Clijsters Ana Ivanovic
LOL, I bet you would Kelly! I love the Nike Town store.....I went to the one in New York and there was a great area for Womens tennis. There was a wall of trainer shoes and next to it was a board with all the Nike-sponsored tennis players with a little profile and in the middle was a TV screen shown highlights of each of the players careers.
Back then, when I went, Monica Seles was also sponsored by Nike so I sat there for ages watching Lindsay and Monica highlights. Then I lost my friends as they walked off, and I was searching for them. Then this staff member (who was wearing a headphone walkie-talkie set) came up to me and asked if I was looking for my friends. He pointed to where they were. But before I could go to them, he wanted to get into a conversation with me.....anyway, we were talking for about 10 mins and it turned out that he and the rest of the staff thought that me and my friends were famous sports people.
Apparently, the other staff were daring eachother to go up to us and ask who we were. I guess that guy spyed his opportunity. I'm not quite sure who he thought we were......he told me that he "knew people", not sure if he was talking about the Mafia or if he meant connections for sponsorship deals......either way, it was all very strange!
