Lindsay overtakes Martina Hingis in Career Earnings post Championships

She's now just behind Steffi and Martina Navratalova... not too bad a week then, eh?

"She wasn't tough to play. I shot myself in the foot," Williams said. "I definitely won that match."

Not quite, Serena. Davenport rolled to a 3-0 lead in the third set, then broke Williams a second time on a double fault to go up 5-1. Davenport survived two break points in the last game, then won when Williams netted a forehand volley.

Williams used a derogatory term to describe her play. "I couldn't put it into any other words," she said. "I would, but I am a Christian woman."

Davenport burst out laughing at the suggestion that Williams let down to help her advance.

"I would be lying on the floor if she said, 'I gave Lindsay a bone and tried to help her qualify,' " Davenport said. "She's great and I get along with her, but I don't think her mind works in a way that she was trying to help me out."

Davenport was 5-0 against Serena and Venus Williams this year after not beating either of the sisters the previous four years. She earned $130,000, and moved into third on the career earnings list behind Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova with $18,461,641.

I agree with you!! Besides if Lindsay had played well the whole match she would have beaten down Serena, she was playing crap in the first set.

My favourite players:

Venus Williams
2000 Wimbledon, US Open
2001 Wimbledon, US Open
2005 Wimbledon

Nastya Myskina

Well if she can win a GS or two next year she could very well take over SG and MN. She just needs to win those nice expensive tournaments - or sell a few of the Porsches she won this year

I would push it and say that this is a good indication that Lindsay is one of the best 3 players to have ever played, but I can't really use money as an indication because as time's gone on the bigger the prize money. But still, with a couple of huge wins next year, Lindsay could be the biggest earner in Womens tennis!

Go Lindsay! breaking records right, left and centre

Yay Lindsay

It's not shyness I have. It's just that I'm not one of those people who loves to open a newspaper of magazine and see myself all the time. I don't like that at all. I prefer to play my tennis which I love, and with which I've been blessed.

Agreed. I do wish Serena would acknowledge that other players sometimes do play better than her and do beat her. Serena and Venus are are so arrogant1
