Something Tracey Austen said...

When commentating an Olympic match, maybe one of JHH's, Tracey Austen was talking about the US Open saying that Lindsay was tipped for the title but Austen didn't think Lindsay had improved since last year, and didn't fancy her chances, saying it was just that other players were injured. I personally think TA talks a lot of BS, and don't agree. Does anyone?

Lindsay Davenport

Elena Bovina | Anastasia Myskina | Flavia Pennetta
Fernando Verdasco | Tommy Haas

Tracy Austin sed that? She loves Lindsay normally

I was watching the JHH Pierce match, and she sed Lindsay moved better than Mary and was praising her,

Personally I dont give a **** what the hell she thinks. Its fairly obvious Lindsay is playing, moving, thinking 100 times better than last year. She was injured for most of it.

Women's tennis sucks.

Seeing as how Lindsay played the US Open on ONE LEG last year and still got to the semis, I think it's safe to say that Lindsay IS playing better this year and is definitely one of the top favorites.

usually tracey is very positive about Lindsay, and she is definitely playing alot better than last year, i would say if Linds wins cincinatti and new haven she is the heavy favorite with 5 titles this summer(if she would win the next two)

Tracy was even harsher than that during the Rogers Cup about Lindsay. She said flat out that she did not feel Lindsay was playing any better andf that the only reason she won the 3 titles back to back was because everyone is out! i was appalled! Then I think she realised she went too far because she repeated what i said to the tv after her first statement which was she couldn't be playing too bad as she beat both Venus and Serena for the first time in 3 years!

It's odd because she's inconsistent and often seems positive about Lindsay when comparing criticising other players, talking about Lindsay's awesome serve and that unlike Justine last night, Lindsay jumped hard on Myskina's weak second serve and destroyed it.

Anyway, we know she's improved both mentally and physically, even if she doesn't win the open her recent successes show that.

In theory, it's quite possible. Virtually all the top players have been or are injured and it's difficult to say who is at the top of their game at the moment and who is working their way back. However, for anyone who has followed Lindsay closely it's obvious that something has improved for the better, presumably her injury situation and this has allowed her to get back to her proper level which is Grand Slam winning class. The US Open will not be easy, everyone else will raise their game and Lindsay will probably carry the weight of favourite and the expectations of her own country but it looks at last as if she believes. Me too.

Lindsay has been more motivated, sharper and is moving at least one step faster than at Wimbledon. She is confident again and I believe that she believes she can win the US Open again. The others will raise their level but Linds will be stuck right in their with the best of them. I think Justine is looking good again, winning her olympic medal so she will be one to beat I think. The others including Sharapova I honestl y think she can deal with as long as she is fully fit.

I also heard her say that, I thought it was a bit strange

To me Lindsay is playing better than since she had surgery, she looks motivated and is healthy. She is also moving way more than I have seen her. I thought that comment was a bit harsh.

Myskina * Henin-Hardenne * Zvonerava

if we speak about 'theory', then we should say that justine was winning everything in 2003 cos kim was choking all the times and the williamses were not as focused on tennis as they used to be previous years. but no one said that...ppl always praised justine, her talent, her results, her heart etc. now that it comes up to lindsay, we should believe that she's 'lucky', that she had no opponents (or injured ones). Pfffff! Tracy Austen is just jealous cos Lindsay may win a 4th slam while she won just 3!

Tracey is going on AGAIn about how whilst Lindsay is playing solid tennis she is still only winning because venus and Serena are not at their best! It's beginning to get real old real fast!

Our Linds is as good as them all as far as I can see from tonight's match. I say watch out Justine and Serena, Lindsay is here and she is not finished with this summers winning ways. US title for Linds g

She didn't say that. She was really praising Lindsay for how well she did this summer, and that beating a WS was a big breakthrough for her. She was just saying that the Williams sisters haven't been at their best in a while.

I think you need to watch the match again as that is NOT what she was saying at all
