Let's see, Lindsay leads...
The Porsche Race to the Champs
The US Open Series Rankings
The "2004 Most Title" List

and will soon lead the Entry System rankings as well.

Great summer tennis, Linds; now take your deserved rest for three weeks and stay healthy.

You should have seen my reaction when I woke up to the news - I seriously didn't know if she could win (it was more so how she would respond after jamming her knee yesterday and Myskina's epic match last night). Awesome win.

She's almost got an 800 point gap going ahead of Mauresmo!

Even though some of the players are playing Montreal - Lindsay's assured that no 1 Race to the WTA Champs till at least after the Olympics

Yes, I think the Olympics gives the same number of points as a Tier II event... or something like that.

Lindsay's really got the race in the bag. She's many points up on her closest rival. They really would have to win both the Olympics and Montreal to take it from her, and then Lindsay has New Haven.

Let's just hope she's got the Open in the bag, as well. That's what really matters to her, although I doubt that even Davenport could deny the excitement of ending a year at #1 again.

And considering I think only Amelie is playing both Montreal and the Olympics she should keep the lead until after the Olympics.

I know they've just brought that in because in 1996 and 2000 it was just the honour of representing your country.

Here's the breakdown for the Olympics:

Olympic Tennis Event
(Singles Only)

Winner - 248 (Gold Medallist)
Finalist - 174 (Silver Medallist)
SF - 122 (Bronze Medallist)
QF - 94 (4th place)
4R - 62
3R - 34
2R - 20
1R - 1

While Quality Points are the same as normal tournaments.

So even if Amelie won the Olympic Gold Medal against Justine H-H and also won Montreal against the 2nd seed Myskina she would still be trailing Lindsay by just under 100 points.

He he I love what WTA Tour said about Montreal...

One of the missing top 20 will allow the field of 56 to finally breathe a sigh of relief this week, as the scorching-hot Lindsay Davenport has decided to take a break from torturing her fellow WTA Tour players and rest up for the remainder of the hard court season. Davenport has been virtually unstoppable in a three-week run on the Tour, reaching three straight finals and taking a commanding lead in the Porsche Race to the Championships.
