She is scheduled to play, and I really hope she does because I already bought my tickets.

She always plays New Haven. I'm sure she'll be there, especially since she's opted not to attend the Olympics, which I'm still shaking my head about.

Lindsay also said that after the final win yesterday that she will be off for 3 weeks. I just checked the tournament schedule on wtatour.com and 3 weeks after San Diego is the New Haven tournament!

Andrew said that she didn't feel safe going to a place where Americans might not be welcome right now. It's too bad, because she would be almost a lock for one of the medals considering her current form.

Yes, it was for security reasons mainly I believe. I for one are pleased that she is not playing in the Olympics. I am happier seeing her on tour and fit for the Open. I know the Olympics is a terrific thing but she does have a gold medal.

It originally was to do with security but after the French Open she withdraw from the US Team selection because of her knee.

She decided playing the hardcourt season then the Olympics then having to back up a week later for NH and then the US Open would be too much pressure.

Well that's what she told Zina Garrison because that's what ZG was reporting to the press.

My guess is no she wouldn't accept it and someone else would take Capriati's position - of they'll give it to Martina N or Lisa R.

She needs to rest that knee as much as possible for the USO, but playing New haven could bring her back into the swing of things after a couple of weeks off maybe

Go Rafa.
