It seems that she will not play before Olympics.

Venus is often rusty at the being of tournaments plus she hasn't played since Wimbledon (aside from a bit of WTT), so maybe Venus will be very erratic and Timea can hsve a shot at winning this match.

Re: Timea Bacsinszky

Interesting first round matchup. If the court plays at a faster pace, I think Timea's got a shot at the upset seeing as Suarez Navarro is pretty much a clay court specialist.

Re: Timea Bacsinszky

I caught most of this match and it was a heartbreaker. Timea had her chances but just couldn't put it away. This was especially true in the 2nd set. She was up a break but could not hold on. Then had triple break point and couldn't convert. Then, in the tiebreaker, she was serving at 5-1.... and double faulted. She got frustrated and didn't get another point.

With only about 50 fans watching this match (could this be any more embarassing? Why do they even have this tournament if people don't come?) I figured I would have a chance to talk to Timea afterward. But she was in no mood to talk to anyone. She was nice enough to sign an autograph but then moved on. As much as players should respond to the fans, I can't blame her on this one. She could have won this one and was upset about the way the match unfolded. So I can forgive a 19-year old for not being talkative after a match like that.

With all that said, Timea displayed all that makes her a likeable player. She wears her heart on her sleeve. If she makes a mistake, she throws up her arms. If she gets a good point, she shrieks. And she can play. Last year, she came to New York ranked #98 but she is about 40 spots higher now. If she can get a couple of wins next week, New Yorkers will surely appreciate this up and coming player.

US Open:
(31)Razzano vs. Bacsinszky
Kudryavtseva vs. Chan
Cohen Aloro vs. Q
(6)Safina vs. Q

Razzano hasn't played well recently so who knows how Timea will do.

2016 Title(s):
Suicide: Strasbourg

Timea is talented enough to make it to the 3rd round in this bracket. That would be her best slam result.

I personally like the draw. Razzano isn´t a very consistent player (well, our Timea isn´t either)... it will be interesting to see if She can play at high level. Go Timea
