Tashkent QF: Stefanie Vögele lt. Evgeniya Rodina, 4-6 6-4 0-6
Stefanie led *4-2 in the first set, but lost the next four games to lose it 4-6. She broke to win the second set 6-4, having let *3-1 become *3-3.
Rodina claimed that they both played their best, and said that in the third set, she "began playing an aggressive game". Rodina was the girl who pushed Maria Sharapova to an 8-6 third set at the French Open 2008.
Still, it seems that Stefanie is winning and losing at random – at least as far as the rankings of her opponents are concerned. This is why it's much better for her to be playing on the WTA Tour than grinding it out on the ITF circuit. She may be only 12:25 for the year, but at least on the WTA Tour, her victims include Petrova, Kvitová, Shvedova and Camerin, and she gets some media-coverage, such as having her photos on the front page of TENNIS.com
at the time I post this.
