Nigel Sears, former coach to Daniela Hantuchova, is to join the British coaching team at their winter training camp in La Manga.
Sears split from Slovakia's number one last month after an association of more than two years.
He helped her rise in the rankings from number 80 to eight, although this year has been a disappointment with Hantuchova slipping to 19.
David Felgate, performance director at the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), jumped at the chance to put Sears' experience to good use.
Sears will join Felgate and Jeremy Bates in putting Britain's national training squads through their paces at the LTA's regular winter base in Spain.
Also on the team will be Martin Bohm, Andrew Richardson and John Lloyd, the former Davis Cup coach who having heavily criticised the LTA in the past is now looking forward to putting words into practice.
John McEnroe, who starts the first of occasional coaching sessions with British players on Monday, was also asked to join the flight to La Manga but will not be in attendance.
