First day in the books as far as singles are concerned, with 14s and 18s playing. McLelland, no. 7 in the 18s, the only seed to fall. Even Lauren won easily.
This is probably a really stupid question but how do they sort out the seedings? Like, surely Kylie would be the top seed for the 12Us given that she finished runner-up at the Open Super 12 Auray. Also if Holly were here she'd most likely tear up this field.
The 14Us draw seemed unfairly strong in the top half, surely the winner of a Heath-Adeshina will nab the title.
Fancying the winner of Davies-Appleton to take the 16Us.
Lauryn J-B losing to Megan Forster but beating Jasmine A A  anyway, hopefully she takes the title with a win over Holly H.
SEEDING CRITERIA
14. The singles seeding order will follow the acceptance criteria of Grade 1 events detailed in point 6, using
the latest available British Tennis ranking on the date the draw is made (Wed 12 Aug).
15. Doubles seeding will be done according to a team’s combined ranking position which is determined by
the British Tennis rankings used when make the singles draw.
My predictions:
12s - Bilchev d. Changwereza
14s - Heath d. Allen (this is the hardest to predict, winner of Heath/Adeshina will surely win though)
16s - Miller d. Appleton (repeat of 12s final from three years ago, Miller to get revenge)
18s - Hutchinson d. John-Baptiste
Interesting that the top 4 seeds all made the SFs in the 12Us.
A shame to see that Esther had to retire but it looks as though it was a very competitive 1st set.
Shocked Alex Hunter didn't beat Megan Forster but I haven't heard much about her, maybe she's really good and has just been keeping quiet. Feel as though it's Emily A's to lose now.
Glad Lauryn progressed, but again really surprised Holly H lost to Abbott whose ITF is pretty subpar tbh. Anyway well done to her for making it. Lauryn please win it.
MJ had match points in he 2nd set but Kylie played them very well and won the game on a dead net chord. She has been a good player for a few years now.
