Article From BritishTennis.net
18 year old Anna Smith reached the 3rd 10K final of her career in with a comprehensive 6-2, 6-4 semi-final win over Korean 3rd seed Ye-Ra Lee.

It was an impressive performance from Anna given that Lee is ranked 80 places higher at 454 and has been in superb form over the last couple of weeks, not dropping more than 10 games en route to the semis.

It's Anna's first final in an overseas tournament, the 10K finals she reached in 2006 were in Ikley and Nottingham. She's now guaranteed to move up 40 places to a new career high ranking of 494 next week and if she wins the final she'll move up to 477.

In the final Anna plays Japanese 18 year old Erika Sema. Sema is ranked over 200 places lower at 775 but her results over the past couple of weeks show that she's clearly a lot better than that. She outplayed Anna 6-4, 6-1 in rd1 of last week's Wellington 10K. This week she's benefitted from her half of the draw opening up, she defeated the 7th seed in straights and beat Hong Kong's Ling Zhang in a close 3 set quarter-final (Zhang had beaten the top seed) before defeating a New Zealand wildcard 6-3, 6-2 in the semis.

Anna received a further boost with the news that she's got a wildcard into next week's 25K challenger in Perth, Australia.
