Louise Latimer

Im just wondering........Britain had a lot of players in the past couple of years who would be top 100 material (Amanda Wainwright, Megan Miller, Shirly-Ann Sidall, Jo Ward, Claire Taylor...etc). I remember Louise Latimer. A girl, red hair, big forehead...She played a match against Capriati (?) at Wimbledon one time. I was impressed and she came in the top 100. After a few months she was gone!!! Where is she?

She retired. I don't know much about it. I don't think she was ever top 100 but I could be wrong! Sam Smith was also good nearly breaking the top 50 and making the 4th round of Wimbledon in 1998!

I think she's at university somewhere in the UK. Let me see...

Right, from a post a while back:

"Five GB tennis girls will be taking up university places as the 2002-03 academic year begins. Former British Number 1 Louise Latimer confirms her retirement by taking up a place at university of Brighton and reigning U18 junior champion Annabel Blow is off to Birmingham University to read Medicine... Louise was a great prospect

3 times she got to the second round of wimbledon.

Qualified for Paris tier 2.

reahced final round of qualifying in all three grandslams

Beat Bovina in the US open quallies

Won surbiton 25k beating Stevenson and Tanasugarn.

Won a few other 25k's and had good results ina few 75 and 50k's aswell.

Got to 107 so close to the top 100 one win over Vento in the asu open first round would have done it.

GOOD LUCK IN 2014 GB TENNIS GIRLS

Naomi Broady, Tara Moore, Heather Watson , Laura Robson

Johanna Konta, Eleanor Dean
, Sam Murray
Katy Dunne Katie Boulter

I think by her own admission she was bored of the game, and just couldn't work up the motivation to play any more. I remember reading an article a while back on her reasons.

She was going through a bad patch results wise when she retired.

I think she might have reached her peak and couldn't make the final push to the top 100

I remember watching her play Huber in wimbledon second round she lost 5-7 6-3 6-3 such a great performance though.

GOOD LUCK IN 2014 GB TENNIS GIRLS
