Cool Mylène Halemai

I figured I'd start an Thread for Mylene Halemai, even though it might be still an bit early.

Mylene Halemai is currently the #43 U-14 Player in Tennis Europe but been as high as 37, Mylène Halemai is one of the current rising stars player coming out of France & seem too be a very promising bright prospect, for sure. she only 14 yr old, she was original born in Australia but now she represent France. This year she seem to be more focus on the 18&U Junior events atm, just recently winning an event in Switzerland. I hoping she can be an big name in the future for France tennis on the WTA Tour in the long run and in the future, I know it early again but I would like to start keeping track of her progress & hope u some would join along.

Re: Mylène Halemai

hey Trey

yes Mylene is one of the young promising french players with loudmilla Bencheikh in france at this category

she won french championships against loudmilla and seems very down to earth and smart. I like her and think she can become a pro in the future cause she has the will to do so, very mature for her age

she started tennis at 4 in Australia, then she came in France at 7, she stayed there and decided to play regularly. She trains now in south of France, at la Grande Motte, Saint Georges Narbonne.
she's very ambitious, wants to be in the top10 in wta. She says she know there is much of work to do, tough to handle, she will have to be determined but this is what she wants, to succeed.

here her interview after winning the french championships at Roland Garros

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2v...ans-2015_sport

she won her first title on clay, last week in switzerland, a G5, congrats!

well she just lost in 1st round of the swiss junior trophy against a swiss girl, 2 years older, score : 4-6 6-3 1-6

still in to play doubles with her friend loudmilla bencheikh, they are the 3rd seed there

Re: Mylène Halemai

I had no idea she was born in Australia either I only saw what she looked like a few months ago and wondered what exact origins she had, I thought she might be like half-Madagascan. Her first name is very French, and her surname looks French too, so maybe she has a French father and a mother who comes from somewhere in Oceania or maybe is an Australian of Aboriginal descent? We'll probably get to know with time when she becomes more successful.

Anyways, congrats to her on her first U18 tournament won! Reading améliemomo, he seems to be a pretty mature and determined girl. Good luck to her in the future

Here is a clip of some points of her R4 match at the U14 European Junior Championships that took place this summer in Czech Republic. Mylène beat Siskova to make the QFs, where she lost to the eventual champion Iga Swiatek (who is the 2nd best U14 player in Europe atm, behind Potapova).

Re: Mylène Halemai

PS: there are 4 "Halemai" people officially being listed on the ITF website: a certain Thierry who has Australian nationality and played Futures until last year (father? brother?), and Thelesia (born 1997) and Kalia (born 2004) who are both French and most likely are her sisters. Both girls have played only 1 tournament each so far this year - Thelesia made the SFs of a G4 in Montpellier, Kalia is only a kid.

It can be interesting, I'll keep an eye on them, checking their results every now and then.

You're welcome, I'll try to

Here are a few more pics from G14 Open Des Jeunes Stade Français - BNP Paribas Cup, one of the strongest U14 European tournaments, held in Paris in July. Mylène was unseeded and had a great run to the final, with notable wins over 4th seed Rakhimova (SFist at Les Petits As this year), 2 & 3 in QF, and 2nd seed Pellicano (runner-up at U12 Eddie Herr last winter), 6-2 2-6 6-4 in SF, before losing to 3rd seed Laguza in the final on the worst scoreline ever: 6-0 6-7(4) 6-7(5) - having served for the match a couple times
She still won the dubs with Loudmilla there, as a small comfort.
