Some people here took notice of the fact that Sherazad didn't have her own cheering thread and were surprised, so here we go! :p

Sherazad is a 26 yo (born April 3, 1989) leftie; a couple years ago she changed her surname from Benamar to Reix (I wonder if she married tennis player Clément Reix?). ;)

Last week, she reached a CHR of 278 (started 2015 at #369). :D

She's won 6 pro singles titles in her career so far: 10K Alger and 10K Antalya (both on clay) in 2013, 10K Petit-Bourg and 10K Antalya (both on hard) in 2014, and 10K Petit-Bourg and 10K Les Contamines-Montjoie (both on hard) this year. :)
She also has 710K doubles titles.

She's made 2 more finals this year: at 25K Imola and at 15K Horb; and 3 SFs: at 15K Mildura, at 15K Melbourne and at 15K Bagnatica this week. :)

I'm also including her little sister Schena in this thread, because she's also a tennis player. :D

She's 16 (born January 18, 1999), she reached a CHR of 261 in juniors last month. :)

She's only be playing seriously since the end of last year; her best results this year are 2 QFs at G4s (Bellevue Junior ITF in Sweden and RUC Tennis International Junior Open in Marocco) and a R2 appearance at 10K Gonesse. She's the new French Champion in U16 category. Last November, she won G5 Solarwood Luxembourg Indoor Junior Open, her only junior title so far.

Sisters have Algerian origins I believe, and live in Paris. Hopefully Sherazad will get closer to the Top 200 and sneak into Slam qualies at some point, and Schena can get into the junior Top 100 at some point too. :cheer:

Wow, I missed that, that's just great! :D

She's the 5th seed there, beat Laura Schaeder 4 & 3 in R1, received a WO from (Q)Maegan Manasse in R2, beat (2)Varatchaya Wongteanchai (WTA 221) 0 & 4 in QF, and (7)Paula Cristina Goncalves 4 & 4 in SF! :yeah:

8th seeded Heidi next today... I wonder if they're still friends! :oh: Holden_C will probably love this final :p

She already is at a new CHR of 273 (+9) this week, should be well inside the Top 250 in 2 weeks! :rocker2: That's really great, but I'm honestly not that surprised because I haven't followed her results really closely over the years, but I remember seeing her going deep in tournaments pretty often and really noticing it! ;)

Well, they like and comment on each other's instagram posts all the time, so I assume they are still very good friends. In fact, one blog I read said they have been cheering for each other at matches at Redding, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, so this "Road Trip" must be a great time for them to hang out and catch up. And yes, I loved this final. ;) Sherazad seems as cool as can be from her Instagram posts. She seems to have a wicked and somewhat cynical/self deprecating sense of humor, which I can appreciate. She also seems to be quite intelligent, and a voracious reader. Also have to admire that.

The Vegas qualifying was really a difficult road, though. Not sure how long of a run she can make in the main draw, but we shall see. I think they are both entered in Kirkland, Washington next week too. She has been playing super well as of late. I think she has only lost something like six or seven matches in her past thirty or so, which is pretty good playing. Obviously, it's no wonder her ranking has shot up.

She is now playing 75K Albuquerque :bounce:

She drew Heidi in R1 :hysteric: but Heidi retired at 3-6 1-3 in their match yesterday

R2 vs. (Q)Amra Sadikovic who upset (4)Nicole Gibbs in 3 sets in R1

Good opportunity for She, Amra reached a CHR of 179 in 2012, retired in the middle of last year, but has eventually changed her mind and has been attempting a (pretty successful) comeback since June. This week she's #394. Obviously she will be no walking bye, but I still think She stands a better chance against her than against Gibbs. ;)

Allez! :cheer::cheer:

Sherazad lost against Sadikovic, it's sad.
But anyway, she's so improving lately, i can't hide i'm a really surprise. She is the most close of the AO qualifying !

I don't know Schena that much for now, but big hope! I saw the final of France championships against Léa Romain, and i loved her game. Need to see more!

NB. Yes Sherazad is married to Clément Reix. And good friend i guess with Clothilde.

Thanks for confirming my doubts ;)

Yeah, She lost 6-7(4) 2-6 to Sadikovic yesterday   Too bad, but Sadikovic seems to be on a mission this week!

Good to read that you liked Schena's game! :) What is her gamestyle? Aggressive enough? Was the final close against Léa close btw? I have no idea about the scoreline, I'm too lazy to check right now^^ I'd also be interested to know how Léa plays as well, even if it's a bit off-topic! :p

Schena seems to be tall, that's always a nice asset ;)

She has an aggressive game yes. I think that if it works for her, it will be a lot of comparison with Caroline.
But that finale was not so good to watch, Léa was not at all in the match at the beginning, and when she was on, it lasts like 4 games..
It was the first time i saw Léa play so i don't know her game too much..

Thanks @Jow ;)

Sherazad is up to a new CHR of 229 (+38) today! :D First time into the Top 250 :woohoo: :yeah:

She's playing 50K Las Vegas qualies now, where she's the top seed. Won a 4h (and I'm not exaggerating, the match REALLY last 4 hours!) against Sophie Chang in Q1 yesterday, 6-3 5-7 7-6(4) :scared:

Next up in Q2 today is (WC)Nicole Coopersmith, who's 16 yo like Schena :p

And She qualified with a 4-6 7-6(4) 6-4 win over (7)Ellie Halbauer in Q3 today!

Big big fight to get the win, as she was in a really critical position (down 4-6 4-5* 15-40 :scared: :tears:) :yeah: Match last 3h20 though, so even though I'm super glad she turned this around and qualified, I'm sure whether she'll have much left in the tank for her MD match tomorrow (her Q1 match last 4 hours :hysteric:)... Plus the qualifier slots are really tough (out of the 4 available, 3 are against a seed in R1).

BTW, Jonathan Kelley wrote a series of really nice blog articles about Sherazad and Heidi in his blog while covering the Redding tournament, and it not only had great coverage of the matches that week, but some really nice background info on the players. There was some great history on both Sherazad and Heidi in there: On the Rise (a tennis blog): Pals Reix and El Tabakh into Redding final

She takes the 2nd set and levels it up! 0-6 7-6(3) :D

2nd set was only holds of serve, and from 3-3* in the TB she won the next 4 points :bigclap:

This girl is full of surprises, I really thought she just was dead from her quali matches after the 1st set (she won only 5 points in that set), but she's a real fighter! :worship:

#22 ·
Lots of tennis for Sherazad lately. She also plays a fair bit of doubles at these ITFs, and won a title or two recently in doubles I believe. Point being, it was a great effort against Gibbsy for being her 4th match in 4 days this week on top of what she has been playing lately.

#24 ·
Awww, She lost a 2h45 match in the rematch from last week against (3)Gibbs in R2 today, 7-5 1-6 5-7 :sobbing:

She lost again but it was closer this time, it really feels like she's learning with every match and every new week and it feels just great! :yeah:

I saw that recent recent Instagram post dedicated to her late mother, seems like losing her mum so young made her very strong and mature, and it's probably strengthened their sister bond a lot :awww:

Good 7-6(5) 6-1 win for Reixy against talented 16 yo WC Nicole Coopersmith in R1 of 25K Rock Hill today! :)

Big fight from 5-6* 15-40 in the first set, she won 4 points in a row to get t the TB and was very clutch in the TB :yeah:

#26 ·
Reixy gets the R2 win over (Q)Diana Marcinkevica (a 23 yo with a CHR of 196, who upset 7th seed Kostova in straights in R1), 4 & 0  :yeah:

QF vs. Ulrikke Eikeri (22 yo, former junior #16, WTA 596 but CHR of 209) who upset 3rd seed Krejcikova in straights today... Eikeri was in the final of 10K Hilton Head Island last Sunday so she's playing better again and must feel confident.

Allez She! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

#28 ·
She is playing 25K Casablanca this week, she's the 3rd seed there and through to the QFs with wins over (Q)Alice Bacquié 6-3 1-6 6-2 in R1, and (WC)Rita Atik 6-0 3-0 ret. in R2 :) :yeah:

QF vs. Dea Herdzelas :bounce:

Curious that not a single post in this thread mentions that Sherazad has a very pretty lefty one handed backhand. I have no idea how her sister plays though the pics suggest she is righty. Interesting that Sherazad got married quite early for a tennis player. I wonder how they manage the long distance stuff, because I don't think he travels with her very much- I've never heard of or seen Clement Reix before. I guess distance makes the heart grow fonder... Sometimes.

#31 ·
I've actually never seen She play so far, so yeah, can't comment much on her game ;)

I think Clément has retired, so he may be following her in her trips at least from time to time :)
