Re: Mathilde Johansson

Mathilde won 61 62. She is into the final round, hope she can qualify. This could result in a top 100 entry ! She will face Hsieh, Mathilde has already a win over her ... but this will be tough, Asian players are generally hard to beat on grass.
Allez !

Re: Mathilde Johansson

Hsieh will be really tough for her to beat - but I think she can do it.

Re: Mathilde Johansson

She lost 62 16 62 . She couldn't hold in the last set. It's really disappointing, she lost the momemtum after a great second set. Mathilde has still no grand slam appearance outside of Roland-Garros. This was the perfect occasion to enter a main draw without WC and get some precious points.
Too bad Mathilde !

Re: Mathilde Johansson

Mathilde lost to Pennetta in Toronto quallies
It is nice to see her play the big events but I think she should play some lower tiers to get her ranking up.

Re: Mathilde Johansson

I watched her match against Hingis today and I seem to remember Mathilde with a conventional serve (w/o short take-back) that was weaker. Did Goven advise her to alter her service motion? And if so, was he also responsible for Tati's abbreviated service motion?

Re: Mathilde Johansson

I didn't see the match, but Mathilde's serve always has been quite weak.

Shame she lost

Re: Mathilde Johansson

Does anyone know how Mathilde pronounces her last name? I've seen/heard a couple of her interview clips, but I've never heard her name said out loud. Is Johansson pronounced as the French would pronounce a Swedish name, like Yo-anne-sonne? Or does it get the quasi-French name treatment, maybe like Jo-ans-sonne? Any help appreciated, but if you could point to a clip where Mathilde actually says her own name, that would be perfect.
