Yes it's very frustrating to see that she lost. I went there to support her, so I can tell you what happened.
First, I was really impressed with the way Bychkova played, very smartly. She let Youlia dictate the points and she capitalised on her numerous mistakes or tactical errors. Youlia looked a little bit lost on the court, she didn't know what to do to finish the point as Bychkova was very consistent.
Youlia fought against herself and saved many break points to lead 4-2. She served and managed to save 3 new break points in a row but hit two bad errors after that.
She had her chance in that set with could have been for her. She went to the net few times and dropshotted as well.
But everything went wrong in the second set, she didn't manage to use the right weapon ay the right moment. She didn't know when to take the ball, she should get much more closer to the baseline. Nevertheless, she hit amazing winners with her forehand.
Her first serve is as good as her second serve is bad.
Overall, Youlia played extremely well when she had break points to save but failed to convert her occasions. For example, she saved three match points in a row but hit stupid errors after that.
She has a good potential, but she needs to work on the tactical side and also to be more consistent.
I enjoyed her game, I'm not disappointed as she has the weapons to do better than that. She is so lost when she has to finish the points, she should go more to the net, all the more so as she is not bad at all (smash above all).
I hope she will be in Antwerp !
