Women's Tennis adds Nalborska for 2012-13
Hokies sign top junior player from Poland
April 25, 2012

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head women’s tennis coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods announces the signing of Joanna “Asia” Nalborska to a national letter of intent for the 2012-13 academic year. She joins three signees that committed in the fall.

“We are very excited to add Asia Nalborska to our program this fall,” said Zawacki-Woods. “Asia has tremendous experience and success coming into Blacksburg. She is a very talented player with a lot of great potential still ahead of her. We feel that she will make a very positive impact on our program during her time as a Hokie.”

Nalborska has been ranked as high as No. 1 in U12, U14 and U16 juniors in Poland. In 2011 and 2012 she won Poland’s Under 21 Indoor National Championship in singles and was a doubles runner-up. She has been ranked as high as 256 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior rankings and received a WTA doubles ranking of 948.

The Warsaw, Poland native is a two-time winner of the Tomaszewski Cup by Microsoft (previously won by WTA’s 4th-ranked Agnieszka Radwanska). She is a five time Polish Super Masters Champion (top-eight players in Poland) and is ranked 44th in the European standings.
