Lamia's Finest, Eleni Kordolaimi!

After her 10K title in Egypt two weeks ago, I think it's time that Eleni has a thread for herself
In her really short career, she is 1-0 in ITF singles finals and 2-2 in doubles finals
Currently at a career-high WTA singles ranking of 787 and a doubles career-high of 749, despite only having played 5 tournaments in the last 12 months

Eleni (or Elena) is from the central Greek city of Lamia. She was a very promising U14 and U16 player who had a career-threatening injury and missed almost two years of tennis. Now she plays college tennis in the US (at Houston with Despoina Vogasari) so she only plays a limited amount of pro tournaments per year since she is so busy. This will be her last season there and then she will turn pro, so we will hopefully see much more of her in the future

Just since the end of this past May when she started playing tournaments, she has already won a 10K in singles and reached another three QF. In doubles, she has won two 10Ks and been a finalist another time

PAME ELENA!

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

Some videos:
Clinching the win against DePaul in 2014:

Cool video where you can see her playing and also towards the end she speaks and dances:

Some of her hitting around and then speaking at the very end:

Some videos from before her college career:

These next ones are from 2008 when she was 15

I forgot to mention, but she spent some time training in Germany at the famous Niki Pilic academy back during her junior days before her injury

10K Egypt:
R1 d. (WC) Tereza Melicharkova CZE (NR) 6-1 6-0
R2 l. to (4) Valeria Prosperi ITA (#598) 3-6 6-7(6)
Also reached doubles semis with Despoina Vogasari
I think this was Eleni's last tournament of the season, unless she plays some more in the US later this year

Anyways she's at a career-high of 770 now

Re: Lamia's Finest, Eleni Kordolaimi!

Eleni was part of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic torch relay
Obviously they go all around Greece first before they go around the world, and Eleni was one of the athletes to carry the torch when it was in Lamia

Re: Lamia's Finest, Eleni Kordolaimi!

She will start her senior season ranked 52 in singles for NCAA. That's her best ranking yet, and hopefully she can improve on it during the season and obviously play NCAA Championships not only for the team event again, but this time it would be nice to see her qualify for individual as well

It will be exciting to see her turn pro after she graduates (in May I think). She's really such a hard worker and she's already at 740 in the WTA rankings even though she only played during the summer
