Re: Anna Gerasimou

Forgot to post this, but in August Anna won the national championships
R64: (1)Anna Gerasimou GRE vs. BYE
R32: (1)Anna Gerasimou GRE d. Marina Peppa GRE 6-0 6-0
R16: (1)Anna Gerasimou GRE d. (13) Maria-Eleni Charalampopoulou GRE 6-1 6-1
QF: (1)Anna Gerasimou GRE d. (6) Katerina Baka GRE 6-2 6-2
SF: (1)Anna Gerasimou GRE d. (3) Evagelia Roussi GRE 6-2 6-2
F: (1)Anna Gerasimou GRE d. (2) Agni Stefanou GRE 6-3 1-6 6-4

She had a pretty easy draw for the first few rounds, but she destroyed Roussi and beat Stefanou, so she can still compete pretty well if she wants to comeback . Also, just like last year, this gives Anna an invitation to the Greek Fed Cup team for 2012

Oh, and she reached the doubles final with Dimitra Kopsini, but they lost in a STB to Christopoulou/Papanelopoulou . But they beat Kagga/Tsekoura, Baka/Simouli, and the Markesini twins to get to the final

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

Re: Anna Gerasimou

Anna might be coaching now
I know that she wanted to become a teacher but there aren't many jobs in Greece obviously and she might be finished with uni by now, since she retired in July 2010 and may have already taken some classes before then or some online classes

I saw on Facebook that one of the Greek ATP players tagged ~30 Greek players in a post where he checked in to the 10K Heraklion tournament and Anna was one of the people tagged. She must be involved with tennis now since she has no business there otherwise. It's not like it's a WTA tournament in Greece or anything, it's a 10K and right now she is either living in Athens or Kavala. Heraklion is located on Crete, an island in the very southern part of Greece. Athens is on the mainland, near the middle of the country and Kavala is up North so it's not like she lives anywhere near Heraklion

Maybe she might come back . She could be the next Gojnea or Savic

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.

Re: Anna Gerasimou

Anna is now working as a tennis coach!http://www.facebook.com/AnnaGerasimo...ref=ts&fref=ts

This is the beautiful club that she works at:http://www.ace-tennis.gr/

Hopefully this somehow encourages her to get back into tennis, it says she has been a coach since 2010 so I guess she never really "left" the tennis courts . And she just turned 25 this month, so she is still young enough to comeback if she wants to

It says she worked with some Greek juniors like Ioanna Markesini (16 yo, former WTA #1182, current ITF #1500), Anastasia Nikolaou (16 yo, current ITF #1706), Eleftherios Theodorou (16 yo, current ITF #887), Dimitrios Kourassis (16 yo, current ITF #2211). It's really great that she is helping out the juniors

And she posted some pics on her new Facebook page:

EDIT-She also played doubles at a Greek national tournament with a junior named Theodora Soldatou, and they won it all

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
