Re: Elena Dementieva Fans Club Vol 8

Several of you have probably long since learned that the WTA webpage is no better than a necessary evil to obtain tennis info; from a journalistic standpoint, the editing is beneath pathetic and, by all appearances, the dykey Ms. Allaster has left her drunken, jobless, quasi-literate nephew in charge of running it.....just to keep him out of the bars for a bit while he uploads grammatically-challenged, BS propaganda for the organization.

However, every once in a blue moon, we get something worthwhile from that page, such as the year-end Top 10 list from ten years back, with a lovely photo of our Elena

Happy New Year everyone, you too Captain. That picture up above looks like the beauty and the beast.
Women have awful taste when it comes to men.
Hope their kid doesn't look like the beast.

Re: Elena Dementieva Fans Club Vol 8

Fred makes a fairly good point; however, if the two of them had any sons, I wouldn't want one of the boys to look like Elena...that is, in case he chose to follow in his father's footsteps on the ice. I'm sure that Russian hockey isn't as thuggish as the North American version sometimes is. Even so, a young hockey player with Lena's face might be smacked around as a 'pretty boy'.

Any gals, of course, would hopefully resemble their transcendent mom and, if they went into tennis, show Elena's class...unlike the current generation of trampy armpieces

Re: Elena Dementieva Fans Club Vol 8

When I see old films of Elena playing I think she is still playing.
Wishful thinking!

P.S. The womens tennis tour is so boring now.
Only if we could go back ten years.

Tend to agree, it is a tad boring.
The only good thing about them, boring or not, is that they are not Men thank god.

The early nineties was a good time, ok, no Lena but we had the Barcelona Bumble Bee, Gabby Sabby, the Graf Spee and of course Grandma Nav to name but a few.

Hairy-assed tennis is sort of like an all-men's ballet.......it's just, somehow, WRONG....And Elena only accentuates that fundamental truth

Henin, Clijters, Capriati, Davenport, Hingis, Williams sisters,
Mauresmo, Russian girls and some others I can't recall was the best time ever for womens tennis. Right now I just root against certain players(Sharapova, Radwanska, Kvitova, Azarenka).
Pironkova won Sydney which was enjoyable. She won eight matches in eight days. Great achievement!

Re: Elena Dementieva Fans Club Vol 8

Not sure if this is what Fred meant, but today's crowd is the sort that you're better off not knowing much about; the more you get to know them, the less you like. The dykey enabler Allaster clearly doesn't give a rat's ass about working class folk, as you can see that she never disciplines any of her spoiled wannabe cover girls when they cheat the fans with another tank job

Radwanska and Vika are less charismatic in interviews than a talking blow-up doll would be. Kvitova has a nicer beer belly than many Czech truck drivers probably have...of course, she has an excuse for failing to train because she always contracts some sort of virus...which is usually discovered retroactively...AFTER she's lost to another player ranked outside the Top 50 again and needs a cop-out in her presser.Petra is a TRUE scholar who somehow equates tennis with brie, feta and monterrey jack; her plural of 'match' is "match-cheese". Glad to see the English lessons going so well, Petra...for shame; even RAFA learned to speak it

As for Ross' Siberian mistress, she's more charming than the above three in her interviews, but there's always a fake, mannequin-like air about it(as with Ivanovic)...as if she went to ladies' school and MEMORIZED everything she says for the camera.

What's so different with Elena is that even fans who've mocked her style of play and disappointing losses still like her AS A PERSON...and what's not to like? She would've been an off-the-charts role model had she ever risen to the #1 ranking. Dare we hope for a comeback???
