I'd actually enjoy seeing how Elena looked at the controls of the chopper

Am willing to give Rik the benefit of the doubt; perhaps he was posting tongue-in-cheek and only pretending to not know that Veronika was Elena's baby gift to the world. If he really didn't know, though, then that sounds like Bilge Room Duty, huh?

Re: The SS Dementieva, New Horizons

Yeah, Rik, you seem like a pleasant fellow, so I don't mean this in a hostile way, but.....You could take that 'other thread' defense, roll it up and wipe your backside with it. Hypothetically speaking, if someone here insulted Elena's mom in some 'other thread', then they probably wouldn't get a free pass here.

As for the aging, loss-of-memory defense, NOW you have a case where our own dear captain would likely sympathize with you

Re: The SS Dementieva, New Horizons

Well, just had a miserable day at the Edgbaston event, tickets cost a fortune, they have ruined the event by leaving no where to sit and watch the practice courts anymore and the security was supplied by "rentagoon" on a buy 1 get 4 free basis. I have not even seen that many "security" guards at Wimbledon or RG or anywhere else, all about 14 years old in dark shades, black suits and earpieces behaving as if they were the secret service telling you "cant go here cant go there cant take photos unless your cameras a piece of shit disposable that doesn't work.

This brings be onto a question for Rix or anyone else that knows about photography at tennis events, I have a Canon DSL 700d with 18 to 200mm lens, apparently "that's professional" it isn't, and I cant use it at all or else rentagoon TM will escort you from the premises. Never had this before at Wimb RG or Eastbourne, all much MUCH bigger events, is this even right?

Anyways, oh how I miss the days of seeing Lena live, having to sit through 20mins of Hantuchova (thank god it rained) and her 75mph first service and endless pissing about that makes Sharapova look quick, only a close up view of the rather magnificent chassis and legs of Wickedmayer made the day worth the £100 it cost.

Well, it sounds like the event organizers have found employment for the complete losers and wastes of life who wander around your futbol leagues searching for violent confrontation.

You probably weren't even seeking an answer AT ALL but you have my sympathy, Cap'n. Apparently, the Edgbaston folks are anally enslaved to regulations and "tradition", like the crowd who actually believe that your prince Charles has superior DNA and is God's chosen representative for the UK.

Max is sort of a take-charge fellow, so why not take a break for today as Captain. If Elena gets upset over anything, I'm sure that we could find a suitable punching bag

Re: The SS Dementieva, New Horizons

I walk around with press credentials, so I can carry anything I like. But I do notice (at some tournaments) increasing security measures even to the point it hinders the press in doing their business.
We have to thank social media, betting and those idiots who threaten players after a loss for this.

The Cap'n won't leave me in charge because every time he does all recent the portraits of Lena mysteriously disappear and are replaced by the old ones from 1999-2002.

Re: The SS Dementieva, New Horizons

It's just "credentials", Rik, and I don't deny the added risk from lowlifes who now feel entitled to interact with players up close. However, there's still room for balance and common sense(for those precious few in the world of GroupThink who possess the latter). It shouldn't be THAT hard for a quasi-educated person to check Cap'n Ross' camera and realize that it's not a bomb or make-shift pistol

Thanks, it's corrected (wonder why spell checker didn't pick it up).
And your last sentence explains it actually. You talk about quasi-educated persons, and we all know it is a requirement to have a maximum of 2 working brain cells to work in security.

And it's Rick, not Rik.
