Elena Dementieva is into the Tier I Moscow Quarter Finals after defeating Israel's Shahar Peer 4-6 7-6(4) 6-3 while saving a Match Point in the process.
Elena got off to a poor start going down 1-5 in the First Set. Elena then rallied to get the score back to 4-5, but Peer held serve to win the First Set. Elena then stormed to a 5-2 lead in the Second Set, but Peer came back and served for the match at 6-5. Peer held a Match Point, but Elena saved it . Peer was then up 3-0 in the tiebreak, but Elena won seven of the next eight points to send the match into a Third Set. Elena then broke Peer three times in the deciding set on her way to winning it 6-3.
