16 yo Nicole (born May 8, 1999) based in West Palm Beach in Florida, whose mother is former Croatian tennis player Maja Palaversic, has been posting some very promising results recently!
She created a big surprise recently when she won her 1st pro title - 10K Cakovec in Croatia - in pretty impressive fashion, all the way from the qualies.
She beat Colet Weening 4 & 1 in Q1, Domenika Turkovic 1 & 2 in Q2 and Claudia Papi 3 & 2 in Q3. In the MD, she beat Stefanie Vorih 6-3 7-5 in R1, (4)Iva Mekovec (WTA 371, CHR 328) 0 & 1 in R2 , (7)Milana Spremo (WTA 558, CHR 393) 6-1 3-6 6-1 in QF, (5)Adrijana Lekaj (WTA 404, CHR 325), 5-7 6-4 6-4 in SF, and (3)Gabriela Pantuckova (WTA 348) 7-6(2) 3-6 6-1 in the final.
Nicole made the QFs at 10K Hilton Head last week - she beat Sophie Chang 6-4 4-6 7-5 in R1, and (4)Laëtitia Sarrazin (WTA 623, CHR 450) 2-6 6-2 6-4 in R2
, fell to Moldavian college player, moonballer Alexandra Perper, 2 & 4 in QF.
She was given a MDWC at 25K Rock Hill this week, and it looks like she played a good match against 26 yo and Top 250 player Sherazad Reix (who was in a 25K final a few weeks ago) in R1. She lost 6-7(5) 1-6 to her, but she had SPs at *6-5 40-15 up in the 1st set
Sadly she lost the next 4 points from that position, and experience probably is what made a huge difference in the rest of the match
She's at a CHR of 876
atm... Interesting to note that she played juniors until last year, but hasn't played a single junior tournament this year...
Looking forward to what the future will bring for her, gooo Nicole!
