Time for Lauren to get her own cheering thread :)

So, this year has been a great year for Lauren. While I would say 2009 was her "breakout" year, this year she has really established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the juniors, and a player with some definite pro potential.

She just turned 17 not too long ago and is ranked just outside the top 400 in the pros (she hasn't played very many pro tournaments this year though. It's my understanding that those will be the focus next year).

Her highlights this year include:

GB1 Easter Bowl RU, GA Trofeo Bonfiglio RU, 10k Williamsburg W, 25k Bayamon W, G1 Yucatan Cup W, G1 Eddie Herr W.

She reached a career high junior ranking of 10 this week, and with her performance at the Orange Bowl (she will play the final tomorrow) she will move up even farther. Good luck in the final tomorrow Lauren!

Also she has been invited to play in the Australian Open WC playoff. There are some tough players there, so it will be really interesting to see how she does. Good luck!!

Good idea! GL to Lauren in tomorows final :bounce: I wish we could see it on livestream :p
This is a tad off topic, but I have no idea why the USTA doesn't have The Tennis Channel broadcast at least the finals to tournaments as big as the orange bowl. It's better than a lot of the other crap they play :tape:

Lauren wins the Orange Bowl :woohoo:

She def Grace Min in the final 6-3 6-7 6-1 :) Grace saved a couple of MP in the 2nd set TB. Nice to see her winning that 3rd set easily after missing those MP.

That makes it 24 straight wins (18 in juniors and 6 in seniors) :worship:

GL in the Australian WC playoff :cheer:

She lost in the semi final of Pan American Closed ITF Championships after her 10k title in Williamsburg.
It's still pretty amazing

Definitely will be heading to the AO WC play offs with some confidence :p

Lauren :woohoo: AMAZING end to the season!

The field for the Australian Open Wild Card Playoff is TOUGH but I think Lauren will be going in with a lot of confidence and the feeling like she has nothing to lose. I kind of want her to win it...

I saw this too! I congratulated her as well... you probably saw my post

The guy didn't type in very "natural-sounding" English. And I've never heard of the management company he posted. Could just be a spammer.

Article on the ITF site:

In the girls’ event, superlative Lauren Davis of the USA continued and incredible three-week winning streak on the ITF Junior Circuit, as she won her 18th match in 21 days. 17-year-old eighth seed Davis, a winner both at the Yucatan Cup and at the Eddie Herr tournaments, had to fight hard to beat fellow country-woman, unseeded Grace Min, before becoming the 30th American player to win the Dunlop Orange Bowl girls’ singles title since 1947.

The talented Davis started strongly, winning the first set 63, but then suffered an apparent drop in energy levels as she appeared to tire up under pressure from Min. However, Davis battled to a tie-break before she suffered an attack of nerves saw Davis dropp two match-points as she looked to clinch the title in straight sets. Min seized her opportunity to draw level in the match. In the decisive set, Davis recovered her composure and self-confidence as she worked her way into a commanding position. Davis sealed the match, and maintained her incredible recent unbeaten run, with a 63 67 61 victory.

“I wanted to take this Orange Bowl title so badly – said Davis - I was very nervous going into the match, but I usually benefit from my nerves. I played Grace last week in Eddie Herr so I knew what to expect. She has both a solid forehand and backhand and is very consistent. I played pretty well the first set, trying to take control of the points and doing a good job for the most part. In the second set, my energy level dropped a ton. I had two match points in the tiebreak and ended up losing them. Grace stepped it up and I was also a little tight. After the second, I was discouraged. I went to the bathroom to wash my face off and to calm my mind down a bit. I was tired, but I wanted to win and I wasn't going to let my fatigue get in the way of me winning this title”.

Lauren had a few hard weeks, so I'm very happy that she won her match in play-offs. I think that she'll be a really good player in future. Every years few young Americans promotes in ranking about 200-400 places, for example Jamie Hampton or Sloane Stephens. Probably Lauren will elevate a lot in WTA ranking in 2011.. Good luck ;)

Davis was asked after the match if she was able to take any time off after all the recent tournaments. “I took one day off,” she said. “My legs are feeling a little bit tired. All these matches are starting to take a toll. But I think it’s just short term and then we have Christmas break so it will be fine.”

“It took me awhile to get used to her (Jamie Hampton) pace. She drills every ball. And it’s indoors so the balls are that much tougher to pick up and the courts are pretty fast.

“I’m not putting any pressure on myself. I’m just going for it.”
