^^ Now that I see all the names written down side by side, wow. Some of them like Jamie & Beth have chronic injuries, while we still don't know how serious Mel's form of rhabdomyolysis is atm. Hopefully they caught it before it did serious damage.

and Kiick just retired in the semis of Vero Beach! She was kiicking ass lately, 26-8 since the US Open, with a win in Merida to end the year. Should still be near the Top 180 after the post-AO rankings come out

Re: ~ The 2014 Team USA Chat Thread ~

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well! It has been a while since anyone posted in here Life honestly is so busy for me lately that I feel like I don't post in general as much as I used to. I mostly just check GM a couple times a day, send for TT, see if anything big has been posted in one of the players' threads I subscribe to, and that's that. I do a lot of lurking I feel like

Anyways, just wanted to let everyone know that I started a new thread in the Team USA subforum. It is essentially to post about/update each other on the status of some of our injured girls and their possible return dates. The idea came when I had to scour twitter for news about Mallory Burdette, since it had been so long since we've heard anything about her. I thought it might be nice to have a consolidated place to share news and developments on player injuries, comebacks from injuries, etc. Feel free to contribute!

Here's a link to the thread: The Team USA Injured List

Serena Williams ~ Maria Sharapova ~ Venus Williams ~ Jelena Dokic ~ Melanie Oudin ~ Christina McHale

Vandeweghe ~ Mattek-Sands ~ King ~ Hampton ~ Riske ~ Glatch ~ Brengle ~ Rogers ~ Stephens ~ Boserup ~ Davis ~ Keys ~ Lepchenko ~ Falconi ~ Chirico ~ Crawford ~ Gibbs ~ Pegula ~ Min ~ Townsend ~ Duval ~ Vickery ~ Bellis ~ Ahn

Re: ~ The 2014 Team USA Chat Thread ~ The IW/Miami/Charleston Swing ~

Question: Why is it that when Americans are successful, everyone hates them?
In the GM it seems that way. Everyone hates Sloane, CoCo, and Melanie. McHale seems to have gained respect although she used to be McFail
And obviously the WS (especially Serena) aren't very well-liked
Even Madison has haters

Obviously everyone gets haters when they're successful, but I feel like even American posters in the GM hate a lot of the US girls. I remember even Beth was heavily criticized for supporting Romney over Obama, because only on TF are players criticized for their political views

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

^^ Don't forget about Beth , Taylor, Huber, Cohen & Brengle I guess the only well liked Americans inside the Top 100 are Vania, Ali & Varva I really have no idea if it means anything because compared to other countries we have so many more top players. Although i would be lying if i said sometimes the hate didn't tick me off The Sloane hate is absolutely out of control =-/

In all honesty, when Sloane loses, I don't even bother reading the thread. It's the same bullshit every time. I agree with you totally: the Sloane hate is unbearable. It's a shame no one does anything about it here. I don't see it as much with the other US girls.

Re: ~ The 2014 Team USA Chat Thread ~ Revin' Up for the 2014 Roland Garros Follies ~

Not sure if you discuss American male players so much . But anyway, Auckland this year I got to see Bradley Klahn, Steve's Johnson and Jizzner . All three were highly entertaining, even John who I found better to watch live than on TV. I loved the way Johnson was able to return Kevin Anderson's huge serves so well, and he won that match which I think would be his biggest win so far. Happy I got to see that. I'm keeping a slight eye on him now as you know .

In 2012 I got to see Ryan Harrison. He sure has fallen now, not even qualifying for French Open .

I really miss James Blake - it would've been epic to watch him live at the peak of his powers. Roddick had a great ass and great legs but I don't miss him overall. He kind of morphed into a pusher late in his career and was really only entertaining to perve on his perfect legs .

I think basically the US men's tennis is below the women's quite a lot relatively speaking, but I got to see all three American guys (when I watched them) win their matches which was cool.

As for WTA, I don't mind Sloane's game but she seems a little egotistical - I'll watch her matches though with no trouble, Madison is purely a ballbasher (not judging her for it but it's true!) etc. Basically I'm only a huge fan of Queen Vee in American women but I like watching Serena too except when she's playing my faves

How many Americans you seen play live Heathy?

I'm feelin' they jealous, like I'm Monica Seles.

Re: ~ The 2014 Team USA Chat Thread ~ Revin' Up for the 2014 Roland Garros Follies ~

Thanks for posting AZ Yeah, i miss James as well I saw him play doubles with his bro at the USO maybe 6/7 years ago Hopefully he's enjoying his retirement with his beautiful wife and child

Az, i really can't remember all of the us player I've seen over the years But i'll name some off the top of my head... Amy Frazier, Lilia Osterloh, Laura Granville, Monica Seles, Monica Seles, J-Cap, Shaugnhnessy , Andy Roddick, Blake, CoCo ( in her 1st match at the US Open Jr's when she was 15 ), Robby Ginepri, Huber, Ashley Harkleroad, Agassi ( in his last match at the USO ), Mattek, Vania King ( twice in doubles with Shvedova ), Riske, Venus, Varva, LLW and TONS of ITF ranked players

Hopefully this will be a successful FO for the Team USA players. I'm looking forward to todays matches between Bencic vs Vee , Shvedova vs Davis & Grace vs Mug

Oh lucky, you've seen quite a lot of 'em . I could've gone to WTA Auckland instead of ATP if I wanted, since Venus and also Ana were there...but I didn't . If they return, I'd try and catch the opening two days so there was no chance I wouldn't see them .

James playing doubles would've been alright but I'd have been all about the singles with him . Oh well, you got to see him in some form at least .

I'm feelin' they jealous, like I'm Monica Seles.

Yeah, it was pretty cool to see him play with his bro I wish i could have seen J-Cap play with her bro at Wimbledon in 2001. I think they also played at the French one year. Not sure about the USO.

Auckland is always a fun tourney to follow. My faves always seem to do well at Auckland Lilia Osterloh won the doubles in 2007
