Re: Varvara Lepchenko

Another win!

She sure has a devil of a time closing out these matches, though.

I honestly also blame her schedule a bit. I know she finished close to Top20 last year, but she has ONLY scheduled the big events. She played 1 MM (in Oeiras, where she played Kuznetsova) the entire year this far and thus is only around #60 for the year. She should have tried Auckland, Pattaya City and Nürnberg or Birmingham in my eyes. Because honestly she played better than her results indicate with her only weak loss coming in IW apart from grass.

That said all the best against Aga!

Rest in Peace Bally!

I was surprised to see she's played 16 tournaments up to this week in 2013, the same as 2011 ( when she having to play qualifiers early in the year and was playing to build up a ranking) and 2012. It doesn't seem that many. On Birmingham, she chose to play Eastbourne as her grass tuneup. I don't think many top players played both with a potential 2 weeker coming up next at Wimbledon.

Re: Varvara Lepchenko

Most players in her ranking range did, it is not like she was Top20 then. And it is not like she can expect to do well on grass anyways. Seoul will probably her only MM for the rest of the year as well, which is very few for a Top50 player.

Rest in Peace Bally!
