Re: Team USA's Fed Cup Thread - On to Czech Rep. for the Semis - Venue announced

Glatch is a good choice since it's indoors, her serve will come in handy.
We really will need to rely on Beth, please get it together for Fed Cup

Probably chose Alexa as the 4th player because it's indoor hardcourts.

Yeah, thats probobly a good choice. I think this team has a nice shot against the Czechs

I don't know about this
Vee or Ree could've sealed the deal
You'd think that now with Obama the sisters might be motivated to be more American, but I guess not

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

If we were to lose I'd rather 4-1, not 3-2 knowing we were so close to pulling off the win.
Anyways, I think we have a shot, but it really depends on Beth we need her to fight hard and pull off a few wins.

Our team will just have to do the best they can. Go Beth, gonna need you to perform!

Indoor carpet will be a benefit to the Czech team although most of them have been playing on red clay lately. I think the whole Czech team are lefties so US needs to get prepared for that!

Huber vs Peschke If it comes down to that, I would be torn. I like both (Kveta more) but I like USA more, so

Would it ever be possible to have two doubles specialists on the team? Because I'd love Lisa and Liezel to pair up in one of these ties.

Anyway, good luck USA. It's a difficult one for sure, but definetely winnable.

TTC is going to show all 5 rubbers

The thing with having 2 doubles specialists is that the singles rubbers are more important in the sense that they make up 80% of the tie and if you have 2 singles players and one gets injured you might lose the the 2nd rubber and 4th rubber since you have to put a doubles specialist in the singles rubber. So it's safer to do 3 singles and 1 doubles player with 1 of the singles players being good in doubles

I agree with Uranium. In my opinion, Poland and the US DC team have doubles strategies. For the US DC team it's a little different, because the Bryans are also great singles players.

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari

Yeah you're right. Is 4 the maximum number of players allowed to play?

I think the worst case scenario is one player playing in all 3 matches (like Lindsay did last year vs Germany).

Four is the maximum
Otherwise the Russian team would be

The Bryans have played singles in DC and aren't bad

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.

It's true that, the sisters were playing fed cup the last years because they love billie and zina, and refuse now because it's Mary jo?
