Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

Wow! Look at the race:

Peschke/Srebotnik and Huber/Raymond qualified but behind just before Beijing semis:

3. King/Shvedova 5530*
4. Azarenka/Kirilenko 5490
5. Dulko/Pennetta 5456*

* teams still playing this week in Beijing! Wow! That is soooo close!

Cara Black - Liezel Huber - Mary Pierce

Chanelle Scheepers - Abigail Spears - Vladka Uhlirova - Mervana Jugic-Salkic - Francesca Schiavone -Tsvetana Pironkova - Lisa Raymond - Sophie Lefèvre...

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

^If King/Shvedova win the SF tomorrow and Dulko/Pennetta lose tomorrow, they are pretty much qualified. This is because Azarenka, Kirilenko, Dulko, Pennetta are all entered in Luxembourg which is only 280.

Flavia beat Wozniacki in singles. Hopefully she is tired rather than hot and confident. I really want Liezel/Lisa to win Beijing.

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

^^ Yes. Lisa is back in Philly preparing for Istanbul.

The more I think about this Olympic thing, the more I have serious doubts. It would be extremely risky for MJF to put two doubles specialists on the team for the Belarus tie. Serena has already committed, Vee I'm sure will be aiming to play pending her health so that leaves two spots. If both WS will play, then the move wouldn't be so risky, but it's never guaranteed how their bodies will be come February. I really think Liezel may have to sacrifice her spot for the tie since she has already qualified based on the Olympic eligibility rules.

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

The Fed Cup thing does not really apply towards doubles. Sorry, but that is the truth. And the Fed Cup thing hardly applies at all in general, honestly. Supposedly they say that to get players to play Fed Cup, when in reality you just need to be in good relation with your tennis federation.

Anyone else already excited for the Aussie Open? I can't wait. Come on, Lisa. Win that Mixed title. And please, stay away from Serena/Roddick.

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

^^ I can just see the draw now 1R against Rena/Roddick Cheers to Lisa getting a legit partner...

I seriously haven't been so bored with tennis in awhile. This honestly used to be my absolute favorite time of year with the old European indoor swing. The quality of matches was always unbelieveable but this Asian swing just really sucks

I've been keeping myself occupied with old tennis DVDs. My friend informed me of a closing down sale and I nabbed a bunch of master DVDs for two pounds per match, including a rare Kournikova/Raymond doubles match and the Davenport/Raymond vs. Clijsters/Sugiyama Wimbledon SF.

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

Istanbul YEC Draw will be either:

Peschke/Srebotnik vs. King/Shvedova
Dulko/Pennetta vs. Huber/Raymond
or
Peschke/Srebotnik vs. Dulko/Pennetta
King/Shvedova vs. Huber/Raymond

Tough opening round either way.

I am very excited about that, these 4 teams are just awesome to watch, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be huge matches with great fights! I would like so much to see Lisa and Liezel win that one!

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

Lisa/Liezel really are considered the favorites IMO. Peschke/Srebotnik have been so hot and cold since winning in San Diego, Dulketta are coming in with injuries, but I assume they are feeling better, and King/Shevdova, while they just came off a win in Moscow, their play was nothing to marvel over. But as Stefi said, we could be in for some awesome matches.

Re: Lisa Raymond cheering thread - vol 2

Draw is Thursday I believe. With play to begin Saturday, the first SF being before the Singles SFs and the second being after the Singles SFs.
