The mixed doubles was entertaining, 6-4 6-4

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

If they serve like they did today for the rest of the tournament, they can definitely win the title.

Meg hit 5 of the 13 aces. Hitting 3 in a row in the first set. (Acing Elena twice and Skupski once).

Re: !~!~!~Meghann Shaughnessy Cheering Thread~!~!~!

No breaks in the first set, lost in tiebreak, 4-7 after being down 0-4.
Got the early break for 2-1, but Meg got broken right back for 2-2. Then holds including 3-4 where Meg goes down 15-40, but comes back to hold for 4-4. Tiebreak. Lost 3-7. after being down 1-4.

6-7(4) 6-7(3).

Is Meg injured or is she incapable of finding a partner besides Beth?

From what I've heard, she has retired . If I remember correctly, Jon Wertheim announced late last year( via twitter ) that Meg had retired .

That sucks She could still be a doubles Grand Slam contender
