Kingsley withdrew and Day is now the #1 seed.
Why is KWEEN Anisimova seeded #5?
Pretty interesting crop. Thank God Kenin withdrew after winning the WC challenge. My favs are now spared by her dropshots.

Last year 16s winner, Desiatnikov is missing from the draw. Osuigwe (16s RU) is missing too due to representing USA in WJT this week.
Notable entry, 12 year old Cori Gauff.

Re: 2016 USTA Girls Nationals

Anisimova and Day suddenly looking like heavy favourites Maybe McNally can challenge them?

It would be Anisimova's senior debut at any level

Shocking losses for Liu, Arconada and Dolehide in particular.

Re: 2016 USTA Girls Nationals

Arconada's game is quite lightweight so when she meets anyone that's aggressive and is having a good day, she's bound to have a hard time. Unfortunately for her, Shibahara is that player. Good serve and hits hard and excellent at net. She's been having good results for these past few months.

Liu, on the other hand, always has mixed result in juniors.

Only Anisimova or Day that will actually do something with the WC anyway, so hopefully one of them can win this.

Surprised to see Naomi Cheong and Gabriella Price were bounced early in U16.

Re: 2016 USTA Girls Nationals

Yeah, I saw Arconada at Wimbledon and she was getting dominated by Swiatek. Pushing Putintseva doesn't say that much I guess.

Was much more impressed with Anisimova's game than Day's at Wimbledon though both are way better than Gordon, Graham and co.

Re: 2016 USTA Girls Nationals

Would you say Liu and Anisimova are the best American juniors currently?

I'm just too lazy to go to the US Open.
