Feb. 11, 2002's Power Rankings feature 10 players based on the previous week's performance. It is not an official ranking based on points but takes into account the strength of schedule and the quality of play of each player during that period.

Rank Player Previous
1 Venus Williams 8
America's Williams wins the Open Gaz de France in Paris and tops this week Power Rankings. An easy win for Williams, as Jelena Dokic pulled out of the final due to a thigh injury.

2 Amelie Mauresmo 10
France's Mauresmo gained 9 spots in the rankings jumping from the 10th place up to the 2nd place, thanks to a great performance in Paris where she lost in 3 sets to Williams, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5.

3 Jelena Dokic -
Yugoslavia's Dokic reaches the final in Paris with a couple of good wins against Russia's Elena Dementieva and Monica Seles of the US, but pulls out due to a thigh injury. She will play in Antwerp this week though.

4 Monica Seles 2
America's Seles reaches the semis in Paris to lose to Jelena Dokic in 3 sets. Another good performance for Seles, who beat Henin in the quarterfinals, but yet she cannot manage to win a title this season.

5 Martina Hingis 1
Switzerland's Hingis has a bye week and gives up the first place of the rankings.

6 Jennifer Capriati 3
America's Capriati hasn't played since her success in Melbourne. The Tour reaches the US next week though.

7 Sylvia Farina Elia 5
Italy's Farina Elia drops two spots in the rankings. She loses to Venus Williams in the quarterfinals in Paris, but remains among the best in the world..

8 Elena Dementieva -
Russia's Dementieva doesn't manage to break into the top 5 in the world. She loses to Dokic in the quarterfinals in Paris.

9 Francesca Schiavone -
Italy's Schiavone is back in the rankings. She reaches the quarterfinals in Paris where she loses to Mauresmo.

10 Justine Henin 9
Belgium's Henin barely makes it in the top 10 this week. She struggles to beat France's Dechy -- 8-6 in the third set tiebreaker -- before getting crushed by Seles in the quarterfinals in Paris.

Dropped out: Anna Kournikova, Alexandra Stevenson, Anne Kremer.
