So we take on Germany on the 7–8 February in Stuttgart, Germany. Indoors (hardcourt).

No news on the team yet but Sam, Casey and Jarka would be automatic inclusions and undoubtedly would play all five matches between them.

The fourth spot won't be Rodionova, and I expect Liv would rather stay in Australia for the 50k's. For that matter Storm should also. Maybe one of the juniors will take the 4th spot

I'd prefer Sam and Jarka for singles, Casey and I suppose whoever is in the best touch during the tie, for the doubles.

But seriously, I agree Jarka over Casey on current form. And Jarka is proven to be significantly better than Casey against top 20 players.
Probably a revival of 2012 Olympic partners Sam & Casey for the doubles. I think Storm will be the fourth players otherwise I could actually see Arina being selected due to no one else..

Re: Fed Cup 2015

I think that's the exact same team we had when we last played Germany in Stuttgart in 2012? Or 2013?

Would Nastya be spewing again at the selections or would she kind of be over the whole thing by now. It really couldn't be much of a surprise for her anymore not being picked.

Re: Fed Cup 2015

Imagine if this were a normal office environment, and you were constantly getting results yet inferior colleagues always got the praise or the promotions. It wouldn't sit right would it?

Anyway, she's not happy on twitter  -
@ariodonova It's sad to see how personal feelings get in a way of many professional decisions! #unfair

As for Olivia, I feel she's just the pawn in the middle of this. Molik & Pratt don't really give a toss about her, but she's there purely because there's no one else and they'd rather cut their own limbs off than to give Nastya a berth. Her ranking will nose dive to 200 because she can't defend any of her points. Essentially she's sacrificing her ranking to be a glorified seat warmer. Do you think they will select her in April or whenever, when her ranking is actually in the 200s? No they won't. Sadly, Olivia is kind of screwed as a result of this.

Though the one thing about an 'office environment' is that it's common for staff to complain to everyone, apart from the people that matter. I wonder if Nastya has actually sat down with Alicia and asked why she hasn't been picked and/or TA re: wildcards. It is easy to tweet your displeasure, but why not do something constructive about it. (she may have though... just speculating)

What becomes clear in these situations is people like Molik, Pratt, Rafter, Woodbridge is that they hold these high-level roles but appear to have little or no experience in managing people or dealing with difficult situations properly. Classic case last year of Molik quite poorly telling Nicole Bradtke over the phone (despite seeing her a few days beforehand) that she was no longer required for the Fed Cup coach spot, then arranging no appreciation and thank-you acknowledgment. Nicole apparantly took Alicia to task (face to face) over this which I was glad about.

Nastya should do the same instead of tweeting her angst, it gives them ammunition anyway. It might work out for her re: Olympic doubles.

Re: Fed Cup 2015

You only have to make yourself available for Fed Cup to be eligible for Olympic selection so that's one bit of good news for Nastya.

I agree with TS, if they weren't going to pick Nastya they should have given the spot to a junior who probably wouldn't be playing that week anyway. Might be nice for Liv to be around the other girls though, I'm sure they will give her some good advice, particularly Casey who didn't break into the top 100 until she was around the age Liv is now (22-23?).

Re: Fed Cup 2015

Channel 7 will be showing the Germany tie. Fed cup on free to air tv

Of course seen no promotion for it, just DC news over n over again.

As with others, think Nastya on doubles alone deserves to be there, but definitely don't think she's the nicest person playing for Aus currently.

Re: Fed Cup 2015

Nicole Pratt is the new Fed Cup coach. It's clear from Nastya's infamous "who you know" tweet, that she's not a fan of Nicole, and it's obviously personal between them - hence Nastya's latest tweet. That much we can gather. We can only speculate as to what dissolved the relationship though, as I believe they used to work together.

I'd say as long as Nicole's old haggard arse is in this role, Nastya's name will never be attached to a Fed Cup roster, unless there is a miraculous handshake somewhere along the way.

It's quite funny because I distinctly remember Nastya tweeting how thrilled she was when Alicia was chosen as captain.

You have a way with words TS. This is a great post. I am not sure if i feel sorry for Nastya or not. She is obviously a real bitch. It seems like TA like to pick 'yes' people. If you question you are shunned and overlooked by them. The lovely Mr Tiley has created a very, very unhealthy culture indeed. I know Marinko gives it to them and they take a queen like view to him....'we are not amused'
