Rachel is still a great player, dont be put off by her rank. Her one big weakness is her First Serve!

Seriously if she had a stronger first serve and got a higher percentage in I believe she'd be top 100 again easily.

Matches I have seen her play recently have only confirmed this. I dont think she's that bad mentally as it may seem, its more that she really struggles to hold serve.

Racheal has shown what an amazing compeditor she is for many years

yes she is geting on but she needs to be more consistent and play more wta events - even if it is qualifying instead of playing so many challengers

when she gets into the qualis draw at grand slams she doesnt last from the low match practice she gets against people ranked 120 - 180

still has alot to offer and lets hope finds the form she had in 1998-2000

Excatly, she need to improve her first serve so, it would help her to climb up for ranking.

Inspiration is for amateurs

Ive always liked Rachel's smooth service action but you're right it lacks a bit of power and whenever Ive seen her play in the past she just doesn't get enough of them in.

But that can be said for her whole game, she really lacked a killer shot to reach the top 15-20. And though she certainly has the fitness and variety that would be the envy of many players.... her groundies, which as a baseliner should be the bedrock of her game, can be very flakey.

So when she was 18, she was touted as a future star - but after that her groundies never kicked on (too flicky to be reliable and a lack of power to be a weapon) and I think got a reputation around the traps that she was suspect mentally and that if you stayed with Rachel she would crack.

There's more to life than just being happy.
