I saw the match vs Cohen-Aloro. Evie had many break points in the first set but couldn't put them away. However she toughed it out against a player who was a lot more comfortable on the grass.
Something that I found out was Evie did have an injury earlier in the year which put her out for a few weeks, but I don't know what it was or whether it's same injury that forced her out of Birmingham. Anyway, the good news is that because the injury kept her out of action, it put her into a 'special' rankings category which enabled her to be in the main draw of the French Open but also, indirectly, has guaranteed a main draw berth at Wimbledon! (Long story!)
I was thinking exactly the same thing TS. Isn't it ironic that Evie was overlooked for the Fed Cup team in April but has been the best Aussie in the last 2 tournaments on 2 different surfaces! But I suppose in fairness, Evie was recovering from the injury and her form wasn't good at the time.
Let's hope Evie can get a good draw at Wimbledon. Anything would be better than last year!
PS. Don't know about Arendt, she is not Evie's coach but was sitting next to coach Adrian during vs Cohen-Aloro for some of the match.
