In a word, the answer is yes. :)

The match against Casey was my first time watching her play, and I was very impressed with her game. She's 15, but she has already got some serious skills. I'd say that her backhand is her dominant wing right now, and it is already a weapon. I like her serve; she's got good pace on both her first and second serves. I love it when a player has the ability to hit a flat 2nd serve, and Maddison can do that. That ability can turn what is a liability for many players into an actual asset.

What I think really makes her an exciting prospect is the fact that she still has so much room for improvement. With time and hard work, her forehand will catch up to her backhand. The placement of her serve can get a lot better. As she gets a bit older and stronger, her foot speed is something that can better too. I don't think that she moved Casey around the court as much as she needed too, but that is something that is a pretty easy fix. She just needs to have a bit more of an aggressive mindset going into a match like this one. Once she loves the game enough and is hungry for success, I think that she'll go far. She's got all the right tools for success, but players still need that hunger in order to get anywhere near their best potential. You've just gotta look at Serena in order to tell how true that is. She's already had all the success in the world, but she still wants it more than anybody else out there. Serena is a competitor, period. If Maddi is a competitor in that sense, she'll be all set.

^ Just saw the grab above (thanks duexfaces) and yes she has a nice action with that serve, which in time will really generate some speed.

Im pleased that her backhand is her stronger wing. Time after time many of our girls have not developed that side well enough (Moore, Holland are the case at the moment) and to be successful on the tour its a neccessity to be at the very least a stable shot.

And yes, you can have the best shots in the world, but with so many players out there these days with equal ability out there, hunger is whats separates everyone.

Hope she has a good summer, making the most of wildcards, which can springboard a good season ahead in the main junior events, and maybe some pro circuit play too.

Be interesting to see who develops from this fairly large crop of youngsters coming up right now.

Yes having a great patch of form the last couple of months. She seems to be the favourite to take this out.

Her game is more solid than spectacular. But the one thing she does well is that she holds her position on the court well. Doesn't get pushed back and therefore takes the ball relatively early. It's a nice strength to have.

Might be our quiet achiever over the next few years.

Definitely the quiet achiever. She's very cool and calm on court, doesn't get angry or emotional and even thanks the ball kids when they hand her a towel  Being a nice girl is great, but I hope she develops a bit of a mean streak on court to get ahead ;) Reminds me a little of Amanda Grahame in that regard.

I'm seeing her for the first time playing the wildcard playoff. She seems pretty good and one to look out for.

She almost came back into it today in the third. If she had taken those breaks she had it could have been completely different result. May need to work on her own serve too, because was beaten far too easily. Is this her last year on the Junior Circuit? Hope we see another year of improvement from her and some good runs in the slams.
