Monique is always capable if fit.

2010 actually. She lost to Schiavone in R2, who went on to win the tournament. Kvitty made SF of Wimbly a coupld of weeks later, as mentioned (and of course won it in 2011).

Unlike most of you, I never thought Sophie was bona fide top 100 material. She had a decent enough game though, and I think it was tailor made for clay. Surprised she didn't do better on the red stuff. She was a solid top 150 player.

As for this year, Sam should make second week with a good draw. R'16 a good result, but she can of course go further.

Meh to everyone else.

Re: 2013 French Open

In terms of career similarities, probably. But I reckon Ferguson was a better player than Liv is. Except mentally she was a turd.

At least Sophie took risks with her scheduling and showed that she could qualify for a Slam & win a round without the aid of a million wildcards. She also rarely played Oz challengers, which I think should always be commended.

Q draw out

Olivia VS Soloyeva (again ) thrashed her just days ago. Could play Nastya in R2 she plays Mayr.

Casey VS Vrljic doesn't get much better than that, but she did lose her last match to Gatto Monticone

Adamczak VS Strycova horror draw

Jones VS Dubois winnable depending on injuries

GL!!!!

Re: 2013 French Open

I think we can safely say Monique will be visiting Paris as a tourist this year. With the injury (not sure what it is) she hasn't had any red clay warm ups and I can't see her beating BSZ with no match play behind her.

Ditto Jones against another scrapper, Dubois.

Liv really should win that match.

Re Casey - don't underestimate Vrljic. Big underachiever, and I'm quite surprised she hasn't achieved more. Good player/danger match alert.

Mayr is just as objectionable as Rodi , great match up there.

Isn't Babsi in free-fall a bit..... maybe Im deluding myself that Mon has a chance

Anythings possible with Casey..... she loses so much now..... Id love to see a match of hers recently to see what's gone on. Maybe brainless ball bashing, not fully committed

I saw her play Pliskova in KL. she just didn't seem committed or particularly interested. No real game plan or fight just hitting the ball as hard as she could. Pliskova went on to win the tournament so not a bad loss, but yeah.

Babs just won a 75k on clay so even though she's been out for a while seemed to be able to turn the form straight back on.

OK, not so free-falling then. Hopefully Barbie has a classic meltdown which she's capable of.

Yes always possible, I can't imagine she will like Mon's slicing, dicing & net rushing too much lol so fingers crossed!
