Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

we knew Jarka wouldn't be in, but i'm a tiny bit surprised that Dokic and Rodionova aren't in. i wonder if they didn't get an invite or if they turned it down, or they could be some of the TBCs... i reckon the other spots will be younger players like Azra, Storm, Lizette, even Bella maybe

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Why would they announce Bains ahead of someone like Hadzic or Sanders?
Surely Jelena will enter. She hasn't played in ages and without a decent showing here there is no way that TA can justify giving her a WC for AO.

Samantha Stosur, Daniela Hantuchova, Lucie Safarova

Kim Birrell, Sabine Lisicki, Abbie Myers, Priscilla Hon

Kristina Mladenovic, Heather Watson, Ana Konjuh, Zoe Hives

Exactly no offence to Bains but that is an absolute Joke to announce her in the field... well done Nicole Pratt

I highly doubt Dokic will play now, they would of announced her today if she had been, generate good publicity early for the summer...unless they are still trying to track her down

So 5 spots left, either Hadzic or Sanders should win 18s, either way I'd be shocked and pissed off for either of them if they were overlooked...Id probably go with Tredoux, Patterson, Bai and Cabrera for the remaining spots...but then Issy Holland is bound to get a start!!

Good luck to the West Aussies in 2013!:
Casey Dellacqua Jessica Moore Bojana Bobusic Storm Sanders
as well as Jelena Dokic Sam Stosur Sally Peers Ash Barty Olivia Rogowska Monique Adamczak Sacha Jones Rodionova Sisters Tammi Patterson Vicky Rajicic Azra Hadzic Alison Bai
|
And all the other aussie girls

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Holland won't play. I have a feeling she's taking a break from the tour, or she has retired.

Bains??? If you're going to pick a 14 year old, why not pick the one that has the most runs on the board this year - Lizette Cabrera. Oh yes, that's right, Nicole Pratt.

Good luck to Naiktha, but she should be playing the 18s and NOT this.

Hadzic and Sanders will both get in, don't worry

I reckon the last 6 will be: Hadzic, Sanders, Tredoux, Cabrera, Woolcock (TA seem to have an interest) and one of either Patterson or Myers.

Journeywomen like Wlodarczak and Bai won't get a start this year. I'm inclined to include Patterson in this group too.

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Hadzic should have been in the 1st list. She had a good season. It was a bit mean to omit her I think.

I'd like to see someone like Nives Baric or Abbie Myers given a go. They've had decent seasons. (Especially if Nives takes out Holland today in the Platinum AMT).

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Woolcock won't get a start, even if she is quite talented. She hasn't been playing recently for whatever reason. Hadizc, Sanders and Cabrera you would have to think are a certainty. Tredoux probably too.

Also just throwing another name up, what about Zoe Hives?

If Steph can be considered, why not Karo? Same age, basically the same ranking, both travel.

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Totally forgot about Bengson. She had her shot last year, so I think they should give a younger player a chance this year. She should focus on getting a doubles wc.

i think they'll still give her one after she challenged Birnerova a bit in Taipei.

She's playing this week in the AMT at Melbourne Park. Won today v Stojic 4 & 4
