Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

I do hope Jarka goes and tries the play-off but then I think about it if she loses it will probably just slump down her confidence. So maybe best if she just trains hard in off-season!

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Dokic doesn't deserve one. You can't just disappear and come back for the Australian Summer.

Sharapova ~ Li ~ Kerber ~ Kvitova ~ Kirilenko ~ Ivanovic ~ Stephens ~ Makarova ~ Safarova ~ Cirstea ~ Goerges ~ Cornet ~ Lisicki ~ Robson ~ Watson ~ Kanepi ~ Keys ~ Tsurenko ~ Wozniak ~ Puig ~ Oudin ~ Petkovic ~ Sevastova ~ Rezai

AND OF COURSE ALL THE AUSSIES!!!

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Sacha Jones will get a wildcard over Dokic. No doubt about that.
Make up for last year when she didn't get one.
I hope Jelena is back for the wildcard playoff.
At least the likes of Holland and Peers won't get one due to their youth this time.

They didn't force the golden child Lleyton Hewitt to last year.
Hopefully Jarka knows she will get one and she can get fit and also get her head in order.

This again? For real? Haven't you guys learned this so far? Jelena Dokic is a superstar of Australian tennis and WILL get a wildcard over random no namers like Adamczak and Rodionova are?
Hopefully Jelena wins a WC playoff like she usually does though.

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

even if Dokic doesn't deserve one, she will still be given one because she's good for drawing crowds and publicity. i would much rather watch a Dokic match with the aussie fanatics in the crowd than a Rodionova bitch fest (no offence to Rodi, i sometimes enjoy the bitch fests )

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

All things considered that's a pretty talented bunch with a lot of potential and a decent amount of experience already. And our top two juniors aren't even there (Barty and Rajicic). I hope this crop of youngsters make something of their tennis careers

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Agreed that she should (and will) get a qualy WC anyway. Maybe she wants to play for the trophy as some good names have won this before.

I think she's done well this year, but it hasn't been a remarkable year by any stretch. She's a perennial QF type of player at these Oz challengers. If she wants to be included in the mix of up and comers, she needs to step up, beat better players and start going deeper.

Yeah. Pretty much beats everyone she should and had a win over Sally (or 2) but folds against quality opponents. QWC however is a lock and deservedly so.

Announcements Mon 12th Nov for WC playoff. Should be interesting to see TA selections ;-) ...

Bit hard to guess this year. Assuming Rogowska DE eligible, rest of prospects: Sure things- Barty, Jones (injury?). Likelys- Boj, Hadzic, Racijic?. Past tense- Dokic, Gaysoda. TA/AIS favourites- Sanders, Peers, Hoang? Holland (oops)? Rischbeith? Journeywomen- Moore, Bengson, Bai?. Juniors- Cabrera/ Bains/ Tomic? (Long/ Hives/ Sharma ??).

Other thoughts...
Two Rodionova's

Stosur | Dellacqua | Gajdosova | Tomljanovic | Gavrilova | Rodionova | Barty
