Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

These draws are really interesting. I'd love it if it was streamed. There's heaps of depth in this group, even without Ash and Viki.

Azra huge win for Hon. That's not gonna do Azra favours come WC time.

I actually expected Belinda to take out Angie? I guess it's gonna take a while for Belinda's game to come together.

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Some crazy results there. Did not expect those wins from Hon and Svinos, especially to do it so easily. Suprisingly easy win for Abbie as well, hopefully this means that she is getting back on track with her singles again. Good win for Hives also.

Samantha Stosur, Storm Sanders, Casey Dellacqua,

Jarmila Gajdosova, Ash Barty, Olivia Rogowska, Abbie Myers

Lucie Safarova, Daniela Hantuchova, Kristina Mladenovic, Sabine Lisicki

True. Although Abbie didn't get a lot of points/wins from staying overseas for all those 10ks - it would have toughened her up for sure - might be this year that we see the results from it.

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

Abbie's a bit of an unknown quantity at this level, having spent most of year overseas playing ITFs. Even though her singles has been a bit up and down with her experience and now playing 'down a level' she may just be able to carve up most of these players?

Nice to see Stojic doing well too. She was pretty quiet on the ITF circuit this year I think and received few or no WCs if my memory serves me right.

Priscilla Shock result for the 14 year old to beat the seasoned 18 year old.

Some shocks all round I think. This will be an interesting tournament.

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

^^ Very true, I didn't think of that. Although her results haven't been great, she has been competing at a higher level than many of these other girls who have been playing predominantly juniors.

Samantha Stosur, Storm Sanders, Casey Dellacqua,

Jarmila Gajdosova, Ash Barty, Olivia Rogowska, Abbie Myers

Lucie Safarova, Daniela Hantuchova, Kristina Mladenovic, Sabine Lisicki

Exactly. And not to mention all the confidence from the doubles wins is bound to start transferring to the singles court sooner or later.

Also I have to add I can't ever remember the 18's looking so full of talent. I agree this should totally be streamed

Re: December Showdown & 2013 Summer Events

I don't think the competition is that strong to be honest. There are a lot of "big" names yes, but most are probably overrated... (like Hadzic and Woolcock)
