Re: Aus Championships since 1990

If you're including 1990 AO, Hana Mandlikova played in that one..

So did Di Balestrat..

Hmmm...where's Liz Smylie??

Anne Minter?? Janine Thompson??

The list isn't perfect but I think we've got all of the main girls in there.

We will have a quick vote for the WC spots. Post the 4 players for 29 to 49 that you want to see in the MD and I will tally them in 24 hours time (everyone gets one vote).
Jack21 - Kristine Radford - Kunce is listed twice (8) and (23)

Re: Aus Championships since 1990

You also got Kerry-Anne Guse in there twice, 60 was her career high. as TS said Bradtke got to 24, Smylie was top 50 in 1990

At 20/11/1989 (almost year end ranks)
Hana Mandlikova was ranked 14, Anne Minter 34, Jenny Byrne 49, Janine Thompson 108, Dianne Balestrat 112, Lisa O'Neil 215

Also I do think that Kirrilly Sharpe (highest end of year rank 161), Jane Taylor (her rank was sitting btw 130-133) and Liz Smylie (highest end of year rank in 90's was 53) should be added to the quallies list.
Limmer, McDonald, O'Neill and Morton where all in the top 200 at one stage, but certainly the others that I and AUSBOY have listed should be included.

Re: Aus Championships since 1990

Ok I have fixed those mistakes. If you voted for McShea or Peers feel free to realocate that vote to another player. I will keep WC voting open for an extra 12 hours (around 12pm AEST) and then make the MD so we can get underway.

I realise that I have missed quite a few players, some of those I left out because we couldn't pinpoint their highest ranking in the 90's and others I just accidentaly overlooked. Feel free to keep researching and and even though it won't affect the game I will try to get an accurate list up in the first post as it would be interesting data to have.

Samantha Stosur, Daniela Hantuchova, Lucie Safarova

Kim Birrell, Sabine Lisicki, Abbie Myers, Priscilla Hon

Kristina Mladenovic, Heather Watson, Ana Konjuh, Zoe Hives

Re: Aus Championships since 1990

WC's are Wheeler, Bobusic, Musgrave, Holland

Holland, Welford and Dittmann were tied at 2 votes all and Holland was randomly drawn for the last spot.

MD will be up soon.

Samantha Stosur, Daniela Hantuchova, Lucie Safarova

Kim Birrell, Sabine Lisicki, Abbie Myers, Priscilla Hon

Kristina Mladenovic, Heather Watson, Ana Konjuh, Zoe Hives

Re: Aus Championships since 1990

[1] Samantha Stosur (4) v. Siobhan Drake-Brockman (107) 5-0 The two nicest girls on tour playing against each other.
(WC) Bojana Bobusic (230) v. Jenny Byrne (75) 3-2 - Jenny holds serve after being in shock that she's losing to a fellow WA girl. She then reminds Bojana about her win over Pam Shriver at Indian Wells in 1989.

[8] Casey Dellacqua (39) v. Cindy Watson (131) 4-1
Bryanne Stewart (135) v. Olivia Rogowska (132) 2-3

(WC) Trudi Musgrave (239) v. Annabelle Ellwood (57) 1-4 This match is delayed by 10 minutes as Trudi and Annabelle reminisce about the time that Tennis Australia said that they (as well as Siobhan DB) would be top 10 players.
[4] Nicole Bradtke (24) v. Evie Dominikovic (64) 2-3 - After fixing a troublesome pony tail and re-applying some lippy, Nicole breaks back. Evie whispers 'F$%* you' under her breath.

[5] Jarmila Gajdosova (25) v. Monique Adamczak (138) 0-5 Who will take the title of Australia's most inconsistent player?? Mon is obviously desperate for the title.
Anastasia Rodionova (62) v. Lisa McShea (139) 2-3 Nastya glares at Lisa and breaks back, Lisa glares back, Nastya glares back... not suprisingly the first 5 games have taken one hour.

(WC) Christina Wheeler (147) v. Louise Field (96) 3-2
[3] Alicia Molik (8) v. Kristin Godridge (79) 4-1 - Godo wins her first game with a scream of c'mon that can be heard from her home town in Traralgon!

[7] Nicole Pratt (35) v. Jo-Anne Faull (61) 3-2 Faull holds serve after a 50 stroke slice backhand rally. Nicole reminds Joanne at the end change that she 'not Joanne' is the top 50 player on court.
Jessica Moore (132) v. Kerry-Anne Guse (60) 1-4 - Jess is already very tired from chasing KAG's drop shots!

Sally Peers (145) v. Kristine Radford-Kunce (45) 2-3 Sally innocently asks Kristine whether she had ever played her mother Elizabeth on tour.
[6] Rachel Mcquillan (28) v. Sophie Ferguson (109) 4-1 Rachel is romping through this match with one eye on Dokic - determined to gain revenge on Jelena stealing her Fed Cup singles spot in 1998.

Michelle Jaggard-Lai (83) v. Rennae Stubbs (64) 1-4 -
[2] Jelena Dokic (4) v. Isabella Holland (179) 4-1 - Izzy wins her first game against jelena stating that 'no one gets 15 games in a row off me'.

There's more to life than just being happy.
