IKR I think she even surprised herself this week. Given that she's a pretty big confidence player this is a great sign for the US summer.

She has a soft 1R draw in Toronto too - qualifier Julia Glushko. Obviously gets tougher from there though- Hampton or CSN in R2 and then Kvitova & Vika lurking in her section again.

Rodionova qualified after Keys withdrew form their FQR match - has a tough opener against Makarova though.

Anyone have any idea what the hell Casey is doing? Is she injured or just cbf? She was looking pretty low on motivation last few times I saw her play - she has a huge amount of points to defend the next few weeks - SF in Dallas and 2R of US Open. I guess we will either see her retire from singles or back to the Aussie 25ks I have to wonder whether she can be bothered climbing back up the singles ranks again, might just focus on doubles where she's having great success.

I've been wondering about Casey too! If she was focusing on doubles though I would have thought she would of played a few events, so I think she must have some injury.

They are both back home training. Very strange that Ash has not played since Wimbledon. It was a pretty bad loss she had though so maybe she's fine tuning her game.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Not sure about Storm but probably she will do similar to Ash. Play the USO and then US tournaments after it.

That was the plan for Ash last year actually, but because she didn't make the USO it was canceled and she played later during Aussie and Asian ITF swing.

Storm reached her goal and went home to train/rest. She withdrew from Standford and Vancouver. She said this morning that she will travel next week for the USO. https://www.facebook.com/stormsanders94

Ash didn't enter anything between Wimbledon and USO. She entered Quebec city after USO

Re: Aussies in WTA events

No one seems to care but Kudryavtseva/Rodionova beat Hlavackova/Hradecka 64 63 in Quebec.

Why couldn't Ash/Casey do that
