Is Evie injured?

Evie is 0-8 since her terrific performance at the French Open. What is going wrong? Any news?

Also I just realised Evie was on the Fat on ABC July 29. Why do I always miss these things? The transcript is here:

She looked in top form at fed cup, but still lost so id guess that her current losses are also just mental..she needs a few solid wins right now!

good luck

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!

Evie has parted ways with her coach Chris Kachel so Im sure that has had a bearing. This happened sometime after Wimbledon but I have no idea who ended the relationship. The fact that she did not play 1 single event in America prior to the US Open has me baffled. It must have been an injury or the ramifications of the split with her coach.

Anyway, she has FINALLY broken the drought. Even if it was againts a player ranked 300. She has beaten Liga Dekmeijere 6-3 6-3 in the first round of Bali qualifying and next faces another low ranked opponent, Liza Andriyani of India. Evie has a real shot at qualifying here, hope she doesnt mess it up. Her ranking is at an almost 2 year low of no.134 and considering her goal this year was to crack the top 50 that aint good

I agree with Steve, its all mental. Come on Evie, get back up there

Hopefully she may enter those 6 or so Aus 25K events around Oct/Nov and get some confidence and some ranking positions back. Her 2000 run was brilliant in those events, the 2 events 1st losses last year were well worth forgetting.

I remember back in early 2000 she played a 25K at bendigo and I sat near her support group whilst she was getting beaten fairly badly by Rachel McQuillan. After she lost some old guy went upto them and said that she played well and was pretty talented. One of the guys turned around, laughed and said basically she hadn't a hope. Great support.

I have my heart in my mouth with her flicky backhand, soft 2nd serve and suspect mental game. With those deficencies she was able to get near the top 60 last year. It shows that with some improvement in those areas the rest of her game stands up.

There's more to life than just being happy.

i think Eve has put alot of work in to all areas of her game this year! Just after Roland Garros she claimed to want to increase her fitness and put more muscle on. Also i noticed in her practice sessions in Wollongong that she really put alot of effort on to her serve and backhand.

Evie has the tools now. Her game is increasingly centered on a big first serve and forehand . It would be nice if she plays some ITF events just to get momentum before the Aussie circuit, and to also give her rank a boost which has fallen below 140.

When she's on song her backhand and SECOND serve are good enough to keep her in a neutral position against most players, and on the forehand she can really step things up when need be. Anyway Evie just won her second qually match in Bali 7-6 6-3 and plays one of the Zanetti sisters in the final round.

GO EVIE GO!

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!
