Re: General Aussie Tennis News - QLD Tennis Centre Photos

You just need a digital set top box & HD tv.

I don't have HD on my tv, but my family's lap top has a HD tuner so I don't have to worry

If you have a normal TV without digital channels you need a digital set-top box. Otherwise you're right to go

On Sports Tonight on CH10 they said you need a HD TV, but then again some HD shows work on my digital so maybe it might work.

Yeah, you're right, doesn't matter if you have a hd tv or anything, any tv will do as long as you have a set top box. it's being shown in hd and sd so doesn't matter what set-top box either.

I'm really curious to see what tournaments they do have.

Foxtel/Austar/Optus have digital channels as they're digital set-up box

Inspiration is for amateurs

More pictures (from October) of the Queensland Tennis Centre.

Things are quickly taking shape

The blue looks really good.
Heard a rumour that you will be able to use public transport for free is you pre-purchase your tickets and show them to the conductors

Also, apartments will not be finished in time for the 2009 event. But the centre is on schedule

And in regards to players, Ivanovic, Li and Stosur have signed up for the women's event with Djokovic, Tsonga, Gasquet, Monfils, Fish (amongst others) signed up for the men's event

I really hope this is right, because I can get digital channels, but I don't have a HD tv. There's no way I'm missing out if more tennis from non-Australian tournaments are being shown on free to air.

Thanks for the pics Zack. I drove past there last weekend. It's looking great!

I really hope the defending champ Li (she who can stick her comments about the AO moving to China, right up skanky arse!) bombs out 1st round & fades back into obscurity!

Re: General Aussie Tennis News - QLD Tennis Centre Photos

Glad the QLD Tennis Centre is coming along nicely
So my guess is they just need to finish installing the blue plexicushion for the remaining 4 courts & clean up the place, am I right Zack? Hope they do.

Oh & free transport already got my tickets
but since I live in the GC, I hope that applies for the GC train line.

Yeah that's about right
But no, the transport thing is only available within Brisbane (as far as I know)

Re: General Aussie Tennis News - QLD Tennis Centre Photos

OK, the centre court looks fantastic.
Those outside courts though, where are they planning on putting the stands? or are spectators on those courts supposed to sit on one of the few shitty plastic chairs they can find around the place? Also, how the fuck are we supposed to watch any of the matches on the outside courts with that mesh right around each court?
If they do what skanky old Liz Smylie did at Royal Pines the last few years, and play the qualifying on the outside courts only. Then that will suck more than slaggy old Liz Smylie's hair do!
Sorry to throw some negativity into this thread, but just wondering what the go is. This has eroded some of my excitement towards this new venue for now....it's still a million times better than Royal Pines & it's ****ish old tournament director, I guess.

Re: General Aussie Tennis News - QLD Tennis Centre Photos

I'm also wondering about the two shaded show courts. Don't know how they'll be able to fit in the stands accomodating 1000 spectators. Guess I'll have to wait & see when I'm actually there.
