Last year she played a really close match against Strycova. Shame she couldn't recapture that form. Will be interested to see how she plays in Sydney, see what difference expectations make.
Last year, she won a round in Hobart Q and the Aussie Open main draw (against Sofia 6-3 6-1
Sam). Then got a W, RU and QF in the Aussie 25k's and a QF at Kaula Lumpur. Effectively did nothing for the middle part of the year.
So a fairly large chunk of points defend, but she shouldn't fall too far. Would like to see her play the whole season overseas. STOP
playing on the Aussie ITF circuit, look towards heading to Asia for some of their weaker 50k + 100k tournaments where she should get some wins, as well as the crappy international WTA events. Play some tough ITFs in Europe and North America before the grand slams. Even if she doesn't have great success I still think it will pay off in the long run.
If she ends the year in the top 150 I think she will have done well TBH. If she manages to find form and crack the top 100, I will be delighted. But at this stage of her career, good form seems to mean tough losses and missed opportunities.
