Re: Where are they now?

I was looking through some facebook profiles of ex-players and found that Rachel McQuillan has three girls. Hopefully one of them turns into a tour player!

Nice that she balanced the ledger somewhat. Nicole Bradtke has two boys, Kristine Radford has two boys, Evie Dominikovic 3 boys.... Love to see the daughter of an ex-player make it on the tour in a few years.

i remember practicing on the court next to her when she was 14 or 15 and thinking she will crack the top 100 one day, loved her variety but new she would always be underpowered to really make a dent...was great to eventually see her on tv, her nan was there cheering her on during the tournament which was cute and she seemed like a nice girl, good luck to sopie in her future

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!

Re: Where are they now?

Idk where to put this, but just an update on Ellen

Ellen Perez
August 26
First week of classes finished and everything training and education wise is in full swing. I have some bad news though, the wrist injury that i have had since february and have been constantly battling has flared up again i'm going to be getting surgery on it sometime this week. This will put me out of playing over the fall which i'm devastated about because i really wanted to get into playing once arriving on campus but the main aim is to be fit and ready for the spring when the season starts and for the summer so i can travel to pro tours. Here's a picture of the girls in the team, we all get along great.

MANDY MINELLA. PRISCILLA HON

CASEY DELLACQUA. JARMILA WOLFE. SAMANTHA STOSUR
QIANG WANG. SHILIN XU. AYUMI MORITA. NAO HIBINO
LESIA TSURENKO. ALIZÉ LIM. NAOMI OSAKA. JULIA GÖRGES.
OLIVIA TJANDRAMULIA. NAIKTHA BAINS. KIMBERLY BIRRELL.
KAROLINA PLISKOVA. KIMIKO DATE-KRUMM. DESTANEE AIAVA

Re: Where are they now?

Been able to find a little bit of info about a couple of our retired players. I'll keep trolling the Internet for some more information on our ex-players.

Christina Wheeler, seems to have done very well for herself. http://www.ey.com/BR/pt/About-us/Our...4-2015-mentees
Christina Wheeler competed professionally for more than a decade on the Women’s Tennis Association and International Tennis Federation tours. She has an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) degree and was awarded the Dean’s Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement. She has worked at the Supreme Court of Victoria for the last three years. She is pursuing a postgraduate Master of Energy and Resources Law course at the University of Melbourne as a Future Generations 2014 Scholarship holder. She also has been offered a position with a top-tier international law firm, Herbert Smith Freehills, beginning in March 2015.

Alison Scott, who was a satellite player in the 80's runs the Girls Tennis Academy http://girlstennisacademy.com/ The delightful Kerryn Pratt has even given a testimony.

Trudi Musgrave (now Musgrave-Edwards) seems to be coaching now.

Jane Taylor runs a life coach/leadership[ company called Habits for Wellbeing. http://www.habitsforwellbeing.com/ab...for-wellbeing/

Re: Where are they now?

So I was bored and decided to do some facebook/Google stalking.

I found that Alenka Hubacek lives in Echuca (town in northern Vic, on the Murray) and has her own coaching business, Alenka Hubacek Tennis Coaching.

Always wondered what became of her.

Christina Horiatopoulos runs the Christina Horiatopoulos Professional Tennis Academy in west Sydney.

I'm sure there are many more players who run their own coaching business as well. Seems like the likely career move for most ex players who never quite made the next level.

Btw, Sophie Ferguson was mentioned at the top of this page. She was heavily pregnant when I saw her at AO two months ago. Wonder if she's had the kid yet?

Great find TS. Yes its the logical step for most. Nicole Kriz's name comes up a lot as well as others mentioned previously who have their own academies - Musgrave, Scott, Jaggard-Lai.

Kristin Godridge has done similar in Hong Kong.

Re: Where are they now?

Noticed on the Aceland site an article about Jarryd Chaplin, ITF Australian player trying to make it on tour. Another son/daughter from an ex-Australian female player trying to make it on tour.

http://acelandtennis.com.au/news/213...nis-court.html

Scott and Geetee, like myself, might remember Amanda Tobin-Dingwall (Jarryd would be from her 2nd marriage) on the tour in the late 70's and 80's. Never had that much publicity as a player in the day even though she reached the 3 round at all the slams. We were used to slam winners (Goolagong, Reid) or finalists (Turnbull) around that time. I remember watching Tobin have a pretty competitive match against Navratilova at Wimbledon one year.

Amanda-Jarryd joins Anne Minter-Sam & Andrew Harris, Beryl Penrose (Australian champ in 50's) and her grandson James Duckworth and Elizabeth Little-Sally & John Peers.

There's more to life than just being happy.

Re: Where are they now?

I remember Amanda well from Albion Park Rail near Wollongong Garry. Very quiet demeanour. She was first married as Amanda Tobin-Evans (husband 1). Then second husband was Greg Dingwall and became Amanda Dingwall and now with husband Number 3 and becomes Amanda Chaplin. Born in 1960...one year older than me.

Yeah she did in late Feb, a baby boy
Sophie was working for TA in Marketing last i heard.

Siobhan Drake-Brockman went on to become a lawyer.

Nicole Sewell did some coaching also but is now a Police Officer in WA, also part of the winning WA State League team with the likes of Janelle Cuthbertson (back now from College) and Nina Catovic who was promising there for a while.

What ever happened to the likes of Annabel Elwood and Kerry-Anne Guse?

Good luck to the West Aussies in 2013!:
Casey Dellacqua Jessica Moore Bojana Bobusic Storm Sanders
as well as Jelena Dokic Sam Stosur Sally Peers Ash Barty Olivia Rogowska Monique Adamczak Sacha Jones Rodionova Sisters Tammi Patterson Vicky Rajicic Azra Hadzic Alison Bai
|
And all the other aussie girls
