Re: Marija Mirkovic Cheering Thread

Marija defied her top seeding status and lost 7-5, 6-2 in the first round in the UK. Very disappointing result - Marija stop underachieving in singles

At least she and her partner are through to the S/F of the women's doubles event after knocking the No.2 seeds out in straight sets.

Re: Marija Mirkovic Cheering Thread

Marija could be a good, consistent player. She just needs tome to develop.

Australia generally does not produce as many good juniors as other countries... for some reason, we tend to have late bloomers.

dellacqua • dokic • groth • molik • stosur
holland • mirkovic • moore • rogowska • wejnert
clijsters • hantuchova • jankovic • sharapova • venus

You seem to come across as a very negative person

I think that Australia currently has its best crop of juniors since the Stosur/Molik era. Moore, Holland and even Shayna McDowell, amongst others, have made great strides in recent times. Jess competed (worthilly) in the first round of the main draw of the Australian Open, and has beaten a number of top ranked Aussies (inc. Breadmore, Wheeler and Hewson). Isabella just led Australia into the Junior Fed Cup World Group for the third consecutive year, remaining undefeated until the final. Not bad for a girl a year out of her age group...

Shayna is grinding it out in Asia, with some great results too. Last year she was sick and injured for a while, and wanted to complete her Year 12 studies (which she did) before commiting to the tour full time. This is arguably why she didn't do as well as some people (myself included) thought she would last year.

I don't know how you can say that Marija Mirkovic's win was a fluke She hit Grandin off the court...whilst she might have had some ''good fortune'' in her victory, more impressive results will come this year, proving u wrong

It is true. Marija had a good day she outplayed Natalie, it would be nice she did it often!

Galatina - Italy - $25K:

Singles:
Q1: Mirkovic - bye
QR: 16/1293-Jessica Schaer (AUS) d. 8/538-Mirkovic - 7-6(4),6-1

Great win for Jess. Shame for Marija though......She missed out on one of 2 Lucky Loser spots...one of which goes to 349-Tiffany Dabek (ranked 170 2 years ago) who now plays Schaer in 1r.

Doubles 1r:
932-Mirkovic/768-Melanie Klaffner (AUT) vs 925-Valeria Casillo/851-Denise Kirbijikian (ITA/ARG).....

Re: Marija Mirkovic Cheering Thread

Marija is really in a form slump now. There is no way IMO that she should be losing to the likes of Schaer (no offence to anyone )
