Re: Jessica Moore

Once again, an exaggeration...I do not think ''most'' posters agree with you and I hardly think the ones that do think she was ''much more exciting''

I wasn't comparing Jess' game to Sam's in terms of power, but rather technique (serve is almost identical, forehand is kind of similar) and the way they use the forehand to construct points

I think it's safe to say Jess isn't playing quallies for Roland Garros as I doubt she is even in France just to sign in to miss out

I doubt that very much, they were equally exciting prospects and yet again we are being optimistic about her (as we should) - we don't want another disaster.

All players have weaknesses. Ellens got a pretty adequate Backhand, For Marina its speed, same as with Lindsay, Maria K is pretty freaked out at the net, Maria S isn't any better at the net. But her fans pay little attention to that, and focus on the positives. Such as Jess has a pretty good overall game and her serve is turning into a weapon.

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

Re: Jessica Moore

I certainly was around when Sophie came onto the scene, and to be honest I was never all that impressed with her.

I'm more impressed now with 17 year old Moore than I was with 17 year old Ferguson. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

And I was around when Sophie was the same age Jess is now, I just wasn't a poster on the board...

ANYWAY...
Week of May 26th
$US25 000 Galatina ITF Women's Circuit Event - MD...#18

Week of June 2nd
French Open Junior Championships - MD...#17

Week of June 9th
$US25 000 Campobasso ITF Women's Circuit Event - QD #9

Week of June 16th
???

Week of June 23rd

I would have preferred her to play the $US25 000 Grado ITF Women's Circuit Event instead of Roland Garros, but good luck anyway

Re: Jessica Moore

She's got to be considered one of the favourites to win Roland Garros. Alize Cornet won it last year, and look where she is now!

Re: Jessica Moore

Well two of the front runners, Stephanie Vogt and Tanya Raykova have withdrawn with injuries. Apparently, Tamaryn Hendler (who Moore beat 6-3 6-2 in the first round last year) is also going to miss the tournament. This leaves Melanie Oudin, Arantxa Rus and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova as the three clear favourites, in my opinion. Oudin will probably be the top seed and she has been in ominous form on the ITF Circuit over the past 10 months. She will be looking to go to No.1 with a good result here. Rus lost in the first round of the Italian Open this week, but has also shown good form in seniors over the past few months. She has had decent matchplay on clay, something which Moore hasn't.
I think Pavlyuchenkova is favourite. Despite being significantly disappointed with the Pavlyuchenkova that showed up in Melbourne, she has improved her results tremendously since, winning a 25k title and matches on the WTA Tour. Having never won in Paris, she will be looking to do so this year.

I suppose we will find out where Jess is match and form wise at the 25k in Italy this coming week. An early loss will not bode well for her chances in Paris. I hope the French seed her, as she was unseeded by TA at the Aussie (despite having a higher junior ranking than Sacha Jones, and winning a match in the main draw)...It probably all depends on what she is seeded and where she is put in the draw. If she gets Nara, Lertcheewakarn or Hofmanova, I can see her making the quarter finals...maybe a semi but no final or win
