Re: Jessica Moore
Well two of the front runners, Stephanie Vogt and Tanya Raykova have withdrawn with injuries. Apparently, Tamaryn Hendler (who Moore beat 6-3 6-2 in the first round last year) is also going to miss the tournament. This leaves Melanie Oudin, Arantxa Rus and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova as the three clear favourites, in my opinion. Oudin will probably be the top seed and she has been in ominous form on the ITF Circuit over the past 10 months. She will be looking to go to No.1 with a good result here. Rus lost in the first round of the Italian Open this week, but has also shown good form in seniors over the past few months. She has had decent matchplay on clay, something which Moore hasn't.
I think Pavlyuchenkova is favourite. Despite being significantly disappointed with the Pavlyuchenkova that showed up in Melbourne, she has improved her results tremendously since, winning a 25k title and matches on the WTA Tour. Having never won in Paris, she will be looking to do so this year.
I suppose we will find out where Jess is match and form wise at the 25k in Italy this coming week. An early loss will not bode well for her chances in Paris. I hope the French seed her, as she was unseeded by TA at the Aussie (despite having a higher junior ranking than Sacha Jones, and winning a match in the main draw)...It probably all depends on what she is seeded and where she is put in the draw. If she gets Nara, Lertcheewakarn or Hofmanova, I can see her making the quarter finals...maybe a semi but no final or win
