Re: Jessica Moore

Jess is going about things the right way. Entering tournies at her current level (with a couple of higher tournies here and there to mix it up), on the clay, to build up her consistency, fitness and attitude. Her best days are about 2 years away but I think she's building the foundations right now.

Tamaela is no random though so not shocked by the loss, although the scoreline is a bit disapointing!!

^^
Yes Tamaela was top 200 a few years back so no slouch.

Poor score though.

Re: Jessica Moore

Jess is heading in the right direction though. I agree with louloubelle - her best is still a couple of years away.

Look at Sophie Ferguson.

Disagree with this! Sophie hasn't until recently been able to play a full season, she's had a lot of injury problems which prevented her from reaching full fitness and playing a full year!

Sophie always showed more talent than Jess, in beating Sugiyama, and taking a set of Petrova at an early age.

Whilst Jess has been doing ok and maintaining her ranking somewhat, she's far from every reaching the top 140 again! She doesn't have the game or mindset, and given the head of women's tennis, Nicole Pratt, thinks the girl is a total inconsistent, passive playing, head case, her chances of future wildcards are extremely limited!

Re: Jessica Moore

Interesting to compare the year-end ranking of both Jess Moore and Nicole Pratt then....

Age NP JM
16 447 985
17 218 372
18 241 140
19 177 244
20 204 ???

Since Nicole didn't figure in the year-end top 100 until the age of 26 and hovered around 200 for the first half of her twenties, I figure she should be giving other players every chance to bloom at a later age.

Re: Jessica Moore

^ I doubt Nicole ever said this. Trying to read a coach's body language during a match in which emotions and frustrations can be raw is a far cry from someone actually permanently deciding someone's a head case or nevre going to make it. Nicole has always been a professional - I'm sure she gave Jess what-for if she thought she wasn't putting in, however I also doubt she ever wrote Jess off entirely.

Agree Gee Tee - I saw some pretty average efforts from Nicole in her early stages. It was Lesley Bowrey that set her on her way, told her to lose weight and get quicker.

God anyone with an average game can get to top 140 if they perservere enough.

There's more to life than just being happy.

Re: Jessica Moore

I watched a little bit of this, Jess was really solid from the baseline and served really well. I was impressed.
However, Glushko didn't appear to be in tournament winning form either? May be suffering from a busy week last week.

Regardless its a great win Jess!

Gavrilova | Stosur | Barty | Rodionova | Aiava | Tomljanovic | Adamczak | Dellacqua
