Madrid - Spain - $25k - Singles Draw:

276-Monique Adamczak vs 402-Francesca Lubiani (ITA).

Head 2 Head:

2001 - Canberra - AUS - Tier III:
153-Lubiani d. 462-Adamczak - 2-6,6-2,6-4

2003 - Nuriootpa - AUS - $25k:
276-Adamczak d. 340-Lubiani - 6-3,6-2

Interesting, Monique's the exact same ranking as last time they played 2.5 yrs ago!

276-Monique Adamczak d. 402-Francesca Lubiani (ITA) - 6-4,6-4

2r: vs 2/178-Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez (ESP) - 1st career meeting.
The Spaniard's a 23 y.o claycourter, apparently these courts are super fast. Maybe this is a chance for yet another top 200 win this year.

Fantastic effort against a much higher ranked player.

Monique showing why she will in the not too distant future be easily cemented in the top 200!

Bad Luck, would have been so great for her if she could win but gota take the positives out of this match she pushed her for 3 hard gruelling sets!

Love to see Monique get on those nice fast hardcourts in us, i reckon she can really do some damage and hopefully will finish strong in the asian wta events at the end of the year!

Good luck to the West Aussies in 2013!:

Checked the latest rankings and Mon jumps up over 20 spots to 254, 2 spots off her career best I'd say she's a certainty to crack that top 250 over the next few weeks. For some reason Lauren Breadmore jumped up a similar amount of positions (I assume a lot of players lost a lot of points from last years RG qualies and others moved up as a result?), and holds Mon off the Aussie top 5, by just 2 positions!

'Cause Lauren beat Alison Bai in the Chinese $25k a couple of weeks ago to add 2.5 points to her rank.
Lauren's played 33 tournies to Monique's 19!! Once last weeks extra 2.5 points are added onto Monique's rank, she'll be 1-2 spots higher than Breadmore.

Whats with these third set tiebreaks, well as well the large amount of general tiebreaks as well Mon just can't seem to get out of playing these three setters. Another chance missed!

Pity about not getting through - she's obviously someone in the challenger circuit to avoid now.

But, I hear there are some wraps on Makarova - so it's not a bad loss I suppose. But she needs more decent challenger results soon to reach US quallies.

There's a Spanish 25K coming up which Mon is 5th seed or so, she should really go far there, two decent results in the next month would do it.

if she can beat the 4th seed tonight in france she might get rolling again....hope so would be great to see her making some more finals and having a win along the tracks, the more wins mon gets the better she plays, and when she is on she is very dangerous, i could easily see her win a match or 2 in us qualies with the right draw!

So could I.

Tough loss in singles to young Makarova (yes, she has some backing to have a decent career so not a bad loss, really), and that doubles result is quite, well, shit

Hoping for a good next few tourneys!
