Sarah Taylor's grand NASDAQ journey came to an end Monday against fifth-ranked Jennifer Capriati. After upsetting the No. 11 and No. 17 seeds the previous two days, Taylor, a wild-card entrant, couldn't overcome the obviously stronger Capriati.
Capriati took 56 minutes to win 6-1, 6-0 on Stadium Court.
''I got off to a slow start and she rolled with it,'' said Taylor, 21. ``I was happy in a sense because there were points when I kept up with her and didn't feel overpowered. But it's a matter of consistently playing at that level. She's a great player.''
Taylor, from Bradenton, said playing Capriati really exposed her weaknesses. She had 25 unforced errors and only two winners, both off her forehand. She double faulted twice and earned points on only two of 19 second serves.
''It was really evident that I need to work on my second serve,'' she said. ``She jumped on it.''
